What Brings You Joy?

My Husband, kiddos, puppies and kitties.

Reading a good book.

The mountains - I love being in the mountains.

A road trip, especially a spur of the moment one when we throw some clothes in a suitcase, grab the road Atlas and just climb in the car and go.

____ National Park - fill in the blank. I've been to several and have never been less than awe-struck.

Being wrapped around my Husband on the back of his motorcycle.

Vegas.

I'm reading back over my list and it occurs to me that I need a vacation....

Today the dancing russian man in ADR's thread brought me great joy. ;) I think I may have fallen in for him.

I love food. I need food. But I love it, too. I prefer good food, but there is nothing that brings me more joy than food after not having any for too long (like 4 hours  )

What Brings You Joy?
aka Learning More About Litsters' Passions
aka Hobbies, Pasttimes, and Fun

Let's learn more about each other. What do you like to do for fun? This thread is not for talking about sexual proclivities or serving/dominating - I'm talking about HOBBIES. Do you dance? Paint? Play softball? Go hiking? Knit? Play video games? Tell us about yourself!

I must admit when I first read the title of this one my first thought was I don't know it depends on what mode of transportation she takes to get here.

 :rose:

I really enjoy singing. However I only ever do it, passionately- when I am alone- preferably in my car. I am sure the passing motorists are getting a kick out of me belting a song out as I drive, sunglasses covering my face.

I also love sky watching, that daytime clouds drifting and night time star spatter... Love it, so soothing and relaxing.

The smell of citrus trees in the warmth of a Phoenix evening always brought me much joy as well, even though I am not living there now, it still resounds in my heart as something that I can recall for the sake of a moment's peace.

Hearing the cats bell tinkling noise when it has been missing for 20 hours and I am weary of trying to hold back the tears and 'seeing' it out of the corner of my eye when it wasn't there at all. Dommy cat came home........smiles

I had those hallucinations for a long time after my beautiful Wu left us quickly in January 2006. It was quite upsetting, so I know how you feel. We have an orange kitty who has been more an outdoor than an indoor pet, and sometimes in the summer when he was younger he would stay away for a couple of days at a time. I had to train myself not to worry too much, because he did always turn up. It's a bit worse now though, because he usually shows up at least once a day and usually twice (morning and evening) so if I don't see him for 24 hours, I worry too. Is yours an indoor kitty? Most of ours are outdoor but we have one old girl who isn't interested in going outside more than once every few months. Wu was the only official indoor kitty because she was declawed in front (she came to us that way).

And to stay in theme with the thread, if it isn't already obvious, I derive great joy from my many cats. :catroar:

Bringing me joy...

Something that brings me joy is painting and tracing pictures and coloring them in... Art in particular even just more Graphic stuff is sometimes nice.

The one of the skirt is photoshopped and the other is on the back of my shotglass case that I spent a weekend painting. The case is filled with all the pretty shotglasses I have.

edit: Little one is the original I picked up and the big one is my interpretation.

Something else that brings me joy, is my writing, which I haven't been inspired to do lately...but some of it, according to some people, is quite good.

:D

Of course, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...so...

I posted a thread with some of it in the poetry board here, but got exactly 0 responses....hence my posting in the "cliquish" thread heh.

For me it's usually working with my hands fixing a car, building a deck or refinishing a table. Also anything that gets my blood going, like driving a fast car, playing in a good rugby game, also coaching football and being with my gf.

Though there are many things which bring me joy at various times, there are 2 things which never fail me - when he looks in my direction and flashes me one of is smiles which he never understands why it makes me go weak at the knees and putty in his hands; and animals doing anything but especially families and animals at play. I have decided for those days when I am lost in deep depression I am going to make up a DVD of clips from the Animal Planet channel of things such as funniest animal videos and other animal antics...they are just so innocent, uncomplicated and beautiful.

I would feel much better if Dommy (cats name) stayed indoors but he likes to go out twice a day and I also like to live with doors and windows open. He does spend most of the day asleep somewhere at home, usually on the lounge and part of the night on the bed with me. He is jingling around now a bit miffed I am awake .........smiles. Recovering from a nightmare here ,hence awake and reading at 2am

My sons first cat Edo and he were inseperable. I had a house on an Island with an immediate waterfront (backyard) . Our darling Edo 'disappeared' . Like your Wu I was constantly seeing a mirage of the cat for weeks . That is until I had a phone call, he had washed up on a beach not far away. Quite decomposed but kind people had bothered to contact me because his collar remained prominant. I had to go scrape him off the beach to bury him. He was such a wonderful animal it would have killed me to leave him there like garbage. A very generous elderly Artist friend a few months later did an Oil painting of Edo from a photograph as a gift for us. No matter where we live we take and hang that painting. I call it our good karma that Edo looks over us still. I could say so much more about that animal though I doubt anyone would believe I was telling the truth.

I remember when you 'lost' Wu Etoille . I was newer here, I think you posted something near Your AV picture. I sent you a pm . In my own way I understood your grief :rose:

Ah kitty cats....

Yea my cat sleeping at my feet or against my chest when I wake up or fall asleep is something that i get joy out of. Otherwise its falling asleep or waking up to see G there sleeping beside me... just makes me wanna smile and cry with joy and hold him close.

BTW G:
You are much better at cuddling then Benny.

My Ferrets...

Today my ferrets, I have 2 Dakoda and Digger, well they found a way into my night stand drawer...(and I am sure I'm not the only one who stores her playthings in a very accessible place)...but they managed to pull my small whip...(its like a small version of the cat-o-nine)...out of the drawer and ran out of my room carring it like a prize...my mom was here and I think she was more embarrassed than I was...we both had a good laugh watching them pull it under the couch...now I need to move the couch to retrieve it and see what else they have stashed under there...Naughty little weasels...

LOL,sounds like they were planning to have quite an adventure perhaps once they got a secnd pair of shoes and socks to go with the silky panties for each to wear. The mental image has brought a smile to my dial which has not been easy to do today as I lay here confined to bedrest by the Domly One. :cathappy:

They are quite adventurous little mischief makers...they are sulking now cause I put them in their cage...it is huge of course but they so prefer to be loose in the house.

Oh and my cat Dutch...he is such a lovable, cuddly creature...every night he sleeps on top of me no matter what position I lay in...he is awesome... :cathappy:

I'm also a foster parent at the RSPCA, and I sort of specialize in infant puppies, because I've had good luck with them. I've done well with infant cats, too; my Fuzzy Guys were two-ish weeks old when I found them. But they don't like other cats very well, so we just do puppies. For some reason, they both like dogs....

For ADR and KC. Here are the little ones. The first one is just a Pile o' Puppies. The second one is the little girl, whom we're probably keeping.
