What do we talk about now?

I used to have this theory about writing "in season". It always seemed like if I let the season I started the story in slip away, I'd never get back into the feel of the story. Sometimes it helps to look at pictures of summer or to watch a summer movie or travel video. :rose:

Thanks for the tip. My muse has been laid up with a bad cold and a rather nasty (ahem) infection due to some powerful antibiotics. Once she's back in action our nights should heat up again.

Get better soon:rose:

I know how you feel. I'm currently trying to write while tripped out on some serious pain meds. My muse is too stoned to get off the sofa. :(

Funny you should mention that. I threw my back out two days ago and I've been on muscle relaxants since.

I'm limited to blinking, staring and if I'm really good - drooling. I'll occasionally space out the dose so I can stagger to the computer.

Thanks for the good wishes, hope you're feeling better soon too.

Omg, it's so easy. Three eggs, splash of milk, whip, throw a pat of butter into a non-stick pan and cook over low flame. Voila.
Or...

Two eggs per person

Add an equal volume of milk and season with a pinch of salt, plus heavy handed ground black pepper

Toast 3 slices of bread each

Melt a generous amount of butter in a pan, add the egg/milk

Keep wiping the solid bits from the pan with a wooden spatula, shortly before it all goes solid remove from heat

Butter the toast thickly

Eggs back to the heat, and do the tricky bit: keep it cooking until JUST before the liquid separates from the solid

(Per person) spread the eggs over two of the three slices of toast and serve immediately

Add final seasoning - maybe a tad more salt and white pepper to taste

Enjoy!

If you have a commis chef to hand, some crispy fried bacon is a good accompaniment.

Let's talk about cooking eggs.

Boiled - hard, but with added butter to make them succulent.
Poached - in boiling water
'Eggy Bread' - beat up with milk, soak bread in goo, then fry in butter
Omelettes - separate the eggs, whisk the whites until they peak, fold in the yolks, fry in butter with any filling you like (mushrooms, bacon, herbs, ...), turn, then serve with chips
Whisk certified salmonella-free eggs with milk and a tot of sherry, serve cold

Any one else?

I like a good quiche, but I can't make it like Carson's mom. I don't know what she does to it.

Thank you! I was better for a while, then I hurt my neck, so, I'm currently trying to write while not moving my neck.

Oh.. and trick that you might not know about with the scrambled eggs. Add a smidge of OJ (no pulp of course), actually makes them fluffier.

Ooh, I'll have to try the OJ thing. I just got this juicer and have some wonderful OJ.

I kind can't wait for turkey day. We're having it this sunday and I'm making some new stuff that we haven't had before. I just pray my turkey thaws out before then.
