What do you like?

My freckles :)

I never used to so that's a good thing I think.

Ooohhh, freckles! I used to date a woman with freckles and red hair. I would tease her by playing connect the dots...

I like having a fresh marker...

Constellations.................I like someone looking for those ;)

A night walk along the beach, the murmuring rumble of breaking waves and moonlight dancing on the water..

I like...snuggling under the covers watching a movie in the peace and quiet.
(which is what I was doing until someone sent me a text messege........)

I like lazing about on Sunday mornings; drinking coffee (cappuccino), smoking cigars (of the full-bodied double maduro variety) and reading newspapers and magazines (of a decidedly east coast progressive bent, e.g. The Nation, NY Times, The New Yorker etc.) Curiously, I didn't pick up any of these habits from my parents, but rather from the books and movies that actually raised me.

Today I like. . . . . .

That the bluebonnets are blooming on the sides of the highways. Early spring in Texas is gorgeous.

Cherry lime slushes from Sonic

The fact that my hangover is finally going away

Naughty text messages. :D

That's one of the best ideas I've heard today. Hmmm...**thinking about a blanket on the couch, and leaving a space for my love**

Don't be mad at them, they didn't know you were so comfy!;)

I don't do anything like that on Sunday mornings, although my parents DID follow that pattern. It does sound like a good relaxing routine, though...

We have wildflowers on the sides and in the medians of our interstates here. We have a lovely Texan lady to thank for them. Sorry, heart, I was talking about Lady Bird Johnson.

Fading hangovers and naughty texts are always good!

It's past 22:00 and I'm still at it... Although I did watch a Humphrey Bogart movie in the interim between my original post and now.

My parents would make us go to church. Then they'd hustle us off to the YMCA for Judo, tumbling or Karate lessons or some such shit. Every once in a while--and for reasons I cannot fathom to this day--they'd attempt to force us to bowl in some cockamamie Midwestern ritual called a Coke-n-Bowl. A bunch of kids, who didn't know each other, would be compelled to bowl several games of ten pin bowling. Then, the moldy old proprietors of the moldy old bowling alley would provide us with the aforementioned Coke® and a rather unsavory looking hotdog.

Thank god we were Catholic. Services in black protestant churches are an all day affair. The Catholics kept it snappy. You're in and out in 45 minutes depending on how many parishioners died that week.

Whatever gets you thru the day, Hooper!

We would go to church with my grandma, then back to her home for dinner, followed by heading back to the house while listening to whatever NASCAR race was on the radio that week. Good thing we were Southern Baptists, since the service HAD to be over at noon, so the pastor could get to dinner himself. I don't think he missed too many meals on Sunday!

That must have been specific to non-black southern baptists. Because on the few times that I found myself conscripted into visiting our black (and near black) baptist relatives in the south, we languished in their non-climate-controlled church until at least 16:00*. I can't say this for a fact, but I believe that the whole congregation ate dinner at church every Sunday. At least they did on the few times that I was present. Of course, most of the day was spent alternately listening to the maniacal ranting of a frightfully animated preacher (Catholics aren't accustomed to that sort of thing) and making a "joyful noise onto the lord."

* In my experience, people in the south eat dinner at an inordinately early hour of the day. I'm almost certain that that's some holdover from farm life.

That's correct, it was specific to churches of the non black persuasion. Even when we went to a hellfire and brimstone service, it was over by 12:05. One service, I saw a preacher break the pulpit by hitting it with his fist. Twice. We have gone to some black services, and about passed out from hunger!

We eat early, so we can eat again later!
