I like the feeling I get when I have caught up everything the person following me at work can't figure out, and I can leave for the day/night.

I love the way my dog comes waggling to meet me, even when I look like crap and am shattered and fed up, she is sooo pleased I'm home, and makes sure I know it
And I love the way my other dog just peers down her nose at me, because I'm just her servant after all![]()
Your dogs sound just like mine! My dal doesn't even bark at me when I get home anymore, because he thinks it's beneath him.
Holly loves me, I'm her world, and seeing as she came to me a couple of years back cos the pound were going to put her down I'm glad she's got a world she loves, she deserves it. LOL! They are great, aren't they?Holly loves me, I'm her world, and seeing as she came to me a couple of years back cos the pound were going to put her down I'm glad she's got a world she loves, she deserves it.
Whereas Willow came to me 10 years ago, also from the same situation, but is convinced she's a princess, we're all peasants and servants and so should be grateful she even deigns to look at us kindly... LOL!
Aww, love the oldies, they're just great!
Well I'm a trustee for a dog charity - we specialise in sight hounds, like whippets, greys, lurchers, salukis etc - and so I tend to end up with the oldies, like Holly, who wouldn't find a home too easily in the normal course of events. She was picked up as a stray, with rotten teeth and no id and so was going to be put down. Luckily the vet saw she was a nice dog in spite of being so poorly, and so gave us a ring rather than kill her. He took her teeth out, gave her a load of abs, and she came to me to recuperate, and never left
Having the oldies often means I don't have them enough years, sometimes just one or two, and that's hard, but if they have a final few months of love, comfort, a full stomach and no fear of abuse then it's worth it. And at least they can go out of this world being loved, and comforted and not alone. I hate the thought of any creature dying alone and frightened, it's one of the few things that I really do get wound up about.

That's great. I like that you volunteer your life to that. You will agree that is what you do, won't you?
I like, no, I love, your attitude toward our four legged companions. If more people felt like you, we wouldn't have animal abuse in the world.
PS: Chief is chasing something in his sleep right now!
Well yes, I guess it is what I do.
I read something somewhere once about a guy on a beach, throwing back starfish into the sea, and a passer by asks him why, as there are so many, and he can't possibly make a difference to them all, and the guy replies, as he throws another one back into the ocean "I made a difference to that one didn't I?"
It got adapted to "I can't change the world. But I can change the world for this dog" by someone, and that's pretty much the way I feel. Just because I can't help all of them, doesn't mean I shouldn't help the ones I can, and make a difference to their lives.
I know my limits, there are plenty of things I can't do in this world, but I can take in the old, the scared, and the fragile and allow them to sleep without fear, or pain, or hunger, or cold. It's the least anyone should be able to expect from life, isn't it? The freedom to sleep soundly?
I like it when they chase in their sleep, that's a sure sign of happy dreams![]()
