I like waking at half 5 on a Sunday morning and knowing I can turn right over and go back to sleep

I won't have many more of them for a while either, as in a couple of weeks there will be an addition or two to the family who'll demand to go out as soon as the sun's up

See, I told you, you need whippies! Mind, they WILL burrow under the covers and use your legs as pillows for their bony chins

My wife's looking for another pet now, but she's in for a another cat. We're up over 10 total, now, including the bird and chinchillas, so I'm trying to buck, but it's not looking good for the home team..

I'd gotten down to just the 2 whippy girls, not counting all the pond fish of course, but we're having 4 ex - battery hen girls joining us - I'm not sure how impressed hubby really is but I grew up with chickens so am really looking forward to rescuing some and showing them what life should be like

I grew up in an area with lots of chicken houses, that supplied the huge chicken industry here. I don't eat chicken much, now, due to what I saw, and I don't think I could have any as pets...

I'm not talking about a few on a farm, for eggs and such. I'm talking 5 to 7,000 in a long house, fed hormones in their feed to make them grow fast, then harvested and processed in the same day.

Sorry, it's not a good memory. I had to work in them when I was young.
