Considering women reaching orgasm from having their cunts drilled is the exception to the rule, it certainly isn't providing much direct reproductive benefit. The guys most likely to be able to knock her up efficiently probably also don't care. Now, if you throw out the assumption that humans are biologically intended to be monogamous and heterosexual, it could be to entice the women to spread their legs for a variety of men and women, rather than only the macho, ultra fertile guys. Afterall, human children take an absurdly high amount of time, effort, and resources just to survive. Obviously, commitment is a good thing, too, though. I remember seeing the images of the female orgasm quite vividly. The contractions dip the cervix into the pool of semen that's deposited nearby, which likely makes it easier for the sperm to get through the os and then up into the uterus.

I think that's probably the major physical function of the female orgasm. Another major function is to facilitate relaxation (we know this helps increase the chances of pregnancy) and bonding through the release of oxytocin and other "feel good" chemicals.

There is zero distinction between "animal in heat" and "human orgasm" - they're a fact of what we are, what we do. I totally disagree with the theory of love = better sex. Of course, it is easier to compare when you can fuck multiple people that you love/don't love in a really short time span. Yeah, but I currently have a close 7 year relationship with a guy a close 4 year relationship with a guy, and a close 4 year relationship with a woman. (none of them are related, although they know each other) I also have a list of 6 month or longer intimate relationships than I have fingers. That's on top of all the hookups. Sure, I have a grand total of zero monogamous relationships, but I've certainly had to deal with the jealousy bullshit from a bunch of people that wanted an exclusive thing that I refused to promise.

As for the decade thing, though, I'm not even old enough to legally have had sex for a decade yet.
