What have I done?

"The Color Purple" had everyone up in arms that it was a poor portrayal of black men.

I didn't like Danny Glover for years after I saw the movie, despite the fact that by all accounts he is a good man.

Did they ever find out who murdered Anna Lindh?
Yup. Found, charged, sentenced and put away with maximum penalty for first degree murder.

I think that there's talk of an appeal in there somewhere. But nothing official yet.

But ofcourse, if you behave well while in prison, you might get time off. Not to mention the fact that you can get to leave prison now and then, to visit your family. Maybe that's only for thieves, not for murderers, but still...

With regard to 'pointing out' that a suspect is non-white, I don't actually believe its purposefully racist, just an extra descriptive. When they don't mention the skin tone then it's assumed that the suspect is traditionally native.

Bradford, near where I live, has a large Indian continent population, when a suspect is reported to have commited crimes there they will point out that he is/was white, but not if he was asian.

9 years ago today, Timothy McVeigh blew up the Murragh (sp?) Bldg. in Oklahoma City. 28 years ago today, I stood in a Texas courtroom and heard a judge officially free of my first husband.

I had the date first.

The thing about the Oklahoma bombing, is that media first called it "a work done by muslim terrorists". When it was clear that Timothy McVeigh, a member of White Aryan Resistance, was guilty, no media ever bothered changing the headlines to "a work done by christian terrorists".

I don't recall that Timothy McVeigh played up his Christianity that much, though.

SlickTony,

Meant to remind you earlier, T. McVeigh's big day in OK City was the anniversary of the fire at the Branch Davidian compound. I believe he claimed that's why he picked that day.

Rumple Foreskin

Thanks, Rumple--I knew that, but figured that McVeigh avenged the burning of the Branch Davidian compound because it was an anti-government organization rather than very strong Christian feelings on his part.

ST,

I do believe you're right.

His unique prose style and word choice does make it kind of hard to pick out the most insulting part, doesn't it? Personally, I think being called a "u" is pretty low. Now if it was an embraceable ewe, that'd be different.
