What I believe...

I believe in sunsets.
Every sunset I see feels like a sacrament. That I see it as something beautiful proves to me, each time, that I am part of the evolutionary process, that it was successful on the whole, and that the colors my (evolved) eyes perceive are familiar and right.

Plus, I made it through another day. ;)

It feels simpler than that to me. To me it just feels... serene. Like no matter what, everything is, right this minute, ok.

Course, it's not a proper sunset unless it sinks into water (says the woman who loves living 100 yards from the West coast).

Sometimes, when I am feeling romantic, I like to think of it as the laid back sun kissed afternoon tickling and wooing the cool night to come out and play.

I just don't do belief without some knowledge to back it up.

And yeah, the Pacific ocean is a beautiful thing...

I believe that taking time to breathe is essential.

I believe that some people just aren't meant for this world.

I believe that a day spent eating girl scout cookies is a good one - not great, or healthy, just good.

I believe in waxing.

I believe in that first sip of coffee in the morning, spreading over your tongue and cuing your brain that today is on, and it may bring something extraordinary.

I believe in grabbing the nearest male/female and reenacting the scene in Dirty Dancing when the song Love is Strange (Mickey & Sylvia) comes on overhead in a grocery/department store

I believe you might get hauled away, protesting vehemently :D

I believe in the sanctity of the 3-minute pop song, with tight guitars, a bridge and a catchy hook.

I believe in fresh starts and new beginnings

I believe that when one door closes another door opens and if it doesnt, I believe in taking a sledgehammer and making my own.

I believe the first time your child reaches his or her hands up and says 'Mama!' is the closest to heaven we'll find this side.

I believe that a day without laughter is a sad, wasted day, and a life without laughter isn't worth living.

"Well, I believe in the soul... the cock...the pussy... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. Goodnight."

My thoughts...

I believe that every experience we have, good or bad makes us who we are and although the road isn't straight and narrow, getting off the beaten path is sometimes a REALLY GOOD thing.....:)
