Racial Slur Prompts School To Cancel Play

PALM COAST, Fla. -- A Florida school committee has canceled a high school production of "To Kill a Mockingbird" because of offensive language in the play.

The theater director at Flagler Palm Coast High School, Ed Koczergo, says the problem is the N-word. Koczergo says the word can't be removed from the script because of copyright laws.

Principal Jacob Oliva says parents, students and community members began complaining about it during the third week of rehearsals. The production was scheduled to open Nov. 12.

Most Flagler County ninth-graders read the novel dealing with racism in a fictional Depression-era Alabama town as part of their course work. Oliva says the guidance teachers give in the classroom about controversial material isn't available to community members coming to the play.​

My boss throwing me under the bus....again. I'm having a really hard time working for people who have all the integrity of snake oil salesmen. I've even had to create an 'alias' to be able to work there....and my boss requently says she is me when she doesn't want to deal with something.

I've been renting the first floor apartment from my S. for 16 months now. Always was wondering why my electric bill is SO high.....

Today...
he tells me that I (and my mom) are in the "owners apartment", and that the electric water heater is on MY line....that means for 16 months I've been paying for the hot water for my apartment AND for 3 others (his included!)

Am I wrong to be so damn furious?

The back peddling he started doing was interesting at best. The thing is, we've been dating a year and a half, and now I can't help but wonder if he is only seeing me to keep excellent renters in his apt.
