This is a close thread for Trixabell and C G Raven. read along and enjoy.
England of the 1820's was a land of privilege and class a country that had been burdened by a mad king and ruled by a decadent self indulging Price Regent. A country that had suffered the privations of war and had lost the best of its ruling class and now was left with the dregs of society at the helm of the ship of state. It was not a land where a young lady no matter how illustrious her pedigree but with out a fortune could hope for a suitable match, and to go into service even as a governess to ones lesser was out of the question.
There appeared in the Times of London and advertisement.
A young woman of social elegance and good morals with a classical education is desired for the position of Governess to a royal household in the Punjab of India. All travel, expenses, and allowances for maintenance will be paid for by the East India Company. Applicant will apply at Kensington Place.
Kensington Place the residence of the Prince Regent a major stockholder in the East India Company a Royal patronage it would appear.
