What should we do about AI?

The majority of the revenue is still just money being passed around among companies in the industry.
My husband runs a team of programmers and he says it is starting to make them far faster at programming code. He's very geeked about ai. My father is too although he's not really on the tech side.

I'm a housewife so I don't worry about revenue, but I also have a finance degree so I understand that doing more with less (aka productivity) improves the bottom line.

the days of writing code are almost over

I think business people want to use ai to improve efficiencies and make workers more productive.

There's that "absolute" stuff again.

You don't seem to have much social intelligence - which tracks with your position on the matter.

You've obviously reduced people to numbers with your finance background and lack of human awareness. You should have spent some of your time at school going to parties to learn about people.

My husband runs a team of programmers

*insert fake shock here*

And what you call myopic probably represents 99% of the c-level executives you hate so much.

Keep going. Give us an even bigger window into your undeniable bias. :)

I grew up in that world. People with power don't want to hurt people or screw them over. They want to build things and employ people, and believe it or not but they care about improving lives a great deal. If you want to bitch about people in power, bitch about politicians. Those are the ones screwing everyone over.
be careful with Roybie he's a racist dick

Wow. And you call me absolute. I'm being polite but you have to go all absolutist prick.

If you want a window into bias, use a mirror. And kiss it - that is the only love you will ever get.

robie has little man's disease so he get very threatened in here

lol - you said I "hate so much". Yet another example of your lack of social awareness.

Um, actually - yes, they are. I'm shocked you don't know that.

A.I. is writing the newest A.I.
I have plenty of social awareness. I can tell from across the internet that you are a communist troll whose mommy never breast fed and whose only threesome was with both hands.

"I'll take 'Things Someone With No Social Awareness Would Say' for $100, Alex." :D

There it is.

I bagged another Deplorable, guys. *chef kiss*

:)
I'm not even political so you are wrong again. I just know a dumbass when I see one, and you might note that everyone else seems to agree with me.

I don't care that you get your economics from the dumbest of the Marx Brothers. My problem with you is that you are rude.

Sure you aren't political. *pat head*

You're over your skis. But please continue; I'm amused.

🍿
Not being political does not mean I'm stupid. It means I'm not following politics very closely. I only came here because I saw the title.

Communism is pretty stupid, by the way. It has never worked anywhere it has been tried. And don't say it has never actually been tried because it has. It is just impossible to implement so it always gets stuck in the dictatorship of the proletariat.

And get some manners.

That is, how to deal with the threat of technological unemployment it poses?

I see no way but Universal Basic Income.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_basic_income
There is the subtle irony that the “universal” policy you propose is a remedy for a very uneven phenomenon. Automation does not displace “humanity” in general; it displaces specific sectors, regions, and skill sets. Your solution levels the wrong gradient. In addition, it treats income as if it were the only social function of work. Even Socialists acknowledge that employment carries structure, identity, and status, not merely paychecks.

My degree is in finance so I tend to see all of those as related. Your employer shows you how they value you through your salary, which is also what gives you status.

AI will cause disruptions that will impact some sectors and skill sets far more than others. Some people will find better jobs that pay more, and some will find worse jobs that pay less.

And for full disclosure, I never have had and never will need to have any job other than being a mother and housewife.

(I'm not a Communist. I know you Deplorables like to label anyone you disagree with as one. It's kind of played out.) :)

Anyone who hates the business world as much as you do knows Marx far more intimately than Hayek or Mises, whether you admit it or not.

I saw AI in the title and clicked. AI interests me. So does economics. Politics does not.
