What strokes your ego?

I love every little comment, feedback or vote and get tickled at every new one. Maybe I'm just really easy to please, but just one new one makes my day. I have had H's but an e or a w would thrill me. I'll get one one day :)

Which would you prefer:

a) 500,000 reads [as opposed to views]
b) W
c) 300 public comments
d) 600 feedbacks with return emails
e) E
f) No 1 on the top list
g) H
i) No 1 on the favourites list
j) anything I forgot insert here_________

All of the above is not an option [greedy bastard]! :D

j) anything I forgot insert here: An emailed pic of a cum-shot from the blokes who've read it (i.e. the result of what my story achieved). Everything else is redundant.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Edited to add: *and eagerly awaits the influx of cock-pics into her inbox*

not sure. I would like one of those E's as I don't have one, how do you get them? I mean, is that just decided when you enter a story, or do you have to send them to specific persons to apply for that?

...

An E means that the editor (Laurel or Manu or one of their helpers) liked the story.

It is one person's opinion, but that one person is very important in Literotica. An E attracts trolls so the story is likely to end up with a low rating.

Praise is pleasant, but I crave honest constructive criticism more than anything else on your list. I'm truly flattered when someone cares enough to risk hurting my feelings by pointing out areas where my writing could improve.

I couldn't agree more. I'd take a well-intentioned
& well-thought-out thrashing, over a three or four
word compliment... any day!

I generally go with Varian's answer. Anything that provides detailed feedback from a reader and/or fellow author ranks high in my books. There are some comments I've gotten from the SDC that left me walking on air, generally because of the nature of the source. Feedback from people I don't know is gratifying and helpful; feedback, however given, from writers I know and respect is golden.

That said - I will have to confess that getting an "E" for "Will" was one of the happiest moments of my life. Sad, I suppose, but true. It wasn't the "E" in itself, though - at least, I don't think so. It feels good to get one, but in that case the real issue was that I was very worried about how the story would be read and whether people would get the right message from it - or indeed, if they got the wrong message from it, if Lit would even post it. The "E" seemed to me to say that I'd managed to convey at least some of what I wanted to convey in a story that was the most difficult I'd written, and that I'd gotten the editors, at least, to see two characters I loved and cared for.

I know what you mean, Shang.

I'm still tripping over the nice things you said about my Halloween story.

LOL Good to see you Lou - MERRY CHRISTMAS but I'm not such a slut! I wish I was like you, not that you are (lol) but hell, I like the fantasy. ;)

I hope I never again see half the things I am sent! I won't even tell.

I am generally happy to see good and bad, as long as the bad is reasonable about my work and not about me as a person, although I do get a kick from that. We are not perfect writers, otherwise we would not be here with our feedback buttons turned on, I always say, and I, myself am guilty of over-description (simply I love describing things that don't need to be :D) Although, I am guilty of more than that as a writer, but every piece of feedback - cruel or constructive makes me think. :D What do I prefer as a writer? I prefer feedback that makes me think, which is why I enjoy the criticism more than the praise, and it's why I post to the SDC. It is a great and constructive forum that more of us should take advantage of, I believe.

Yep. :rose: And I think Zoot underestimates himself.

After I started this thread, and I went and checked my stories and realised one story had over 730 votes [and no, not incest or anal :D], and was 9000 views away from the most read thread. I am just awed that a story of mine received so much attention. That's enough for me.

Because I'm into equal opportunity, I accept females cum shots as well.

I've received four 'E's, all for the same kind of story, which means that I've probably managed to tickle Laurel's funny bone.

Having one of my humor stories top-rated for almost a year changed my opinion of writing ability, and set me on the road which led to me jacking in my job and attempting to write full-time.

I'm always experimenting with writing styles and genres, because I have no idea what I'm capable of until I try it.

Obviously I've had a fair share of blind alleys and dismal failures along the way.
