Ok, so I'm completely at a loss as what to do.
I've been with my current partner for about a year and a half, and at the start of our relationship, we had a great sex life. Now though, it seems as though either he's got a LOT bigger, or I've shrunk. And it's got to the stage where even attempting anything hurts even more than losing my virginity did.
I've been to my doctor, and she swapped my pill for a lower dose one because she said that was what was causing it. Hasn't made a difference, and when I went back to her, she was completely at a loss to what else it could be. I mean, everythings fine, apart from the fact that sex is damn near impossible.
I still get turned on, and want sex, but it just doesn't work. We haven't had sex in about 6 months, and while my blow job technique has really improved, it's just not the same!
Does anyone have any advice, or anything for me? I'm open to anything.

Vulvodynia? Apparently it can be triggered at any stage in life...and then stop in the same way. They're still not quite sure how to treat it. It can be caused by low estrogen, long term antibiotic use, or if you get frequent infections (such as yeast).

I posted not long ago about it :

It sounds like your partner is quite understanding about it - I wish I'd have been that lucky! I know how traumatic is can be - especially the "what is wrong with me?" feeling. Wanting sex...just can't have it

Yes, changing your pill is a good start. I've also been given a cortisone cream...not sure if that has helped as I've only been using it for a few days.

I hope things improve for you soon. Please post again if you find anything that helps.

if your doctor can't find any reason for this, maybe you ought to try a second doctor's opinion.

it sounds like something is wrong, and you know that something's wrong, and doctor's aren't always 100% right about everything.

Did you try masturbation before the PIV sex? I mean it may warms your vagina up a little bit. :p

a recurring mis-treated yeast infection can cause agony during sex too. Diflucan does NOT work for all women!!! i would seek a second opinion from another doctor, and try lots of lube in the meantime. I think KY is the best for not irritating you further.

KY, and most other water-based lubes contain glycerin, which can promote yeast infections, and many other irritating ingredients such as alcohol and preservatives. Plus, KY isn't made to be a sexual lube - it's for one-time insertions.

So, a safe, natural oil (e.g. olive) if latex products aren't being used, one of the natural, glycerin-free water-based, or a silicone lube (this 16oz pump of ID Millennium from Gamelink is excellent and the best deal I've found ) would be best for providing lubrication without irritation or infections.

I'm no gynecologist but it sounds to me like you need to calm down. If you're experiencing pain with vaginal penetration then don't force it, just get off through some other method.
Try this. Two nights in a row you agree in advance that there will be no vaginal penetration. He brings you to orgasm thru oral and you do the same for him. On the third night continue your exchange of orgasms then try just a bit of vaginal to see how it feels. If you're still in pain then try again next week. If not then you've solved the problem.
I've heard women tell this same story about feeling pain when having anal sex. They give it up because their boyfriends really want it and want to know how they can make the pain go away. If it doesn't feel good then don't do it. Don't stress yourself out over it, just back off and try again another time.

I don't have quite the same exact problem as Midori. But sex has always been very painful for me. So thank you for the information for a different reason. The doctors (and I have gotten a number of opinions) have yet to figure out why it is this way for me. My next option is (when I have the money for this that is) is to get tested for a latex allergy. Have you been tested for that?

I'm going to get tested for allergies too. That was the first thing my doctor thought of when I went to her. Apparently you can build up an allergic reaction to some things over a period of time. Or one day you're fine...the next you're not!
I have been allergic to a brand of toilet paper too. Silly marketing people thought putting perfume in toilet paper was a good idea...and our silly office lady bought it! Lemme tell you...that is NOT comfortable.

The cortisone cream is helping a little. I have been using it for 3 weeks now.

Yes! That's exactly the problem with latex. I used to work with someone with this allergy. That's why I know a little about it. You can have no problem with it for ages. Then all of a sudden it starts giving you hives (or whatever your own reaction to it it, that's what hers was), etc. It can be a BAD allergy to have from what she's told me. So I really do recommend anyone who suspects an allergy to it to get tested. It never hurts to know for sure.

Thanks everyone for your help!
Yes, my partner is very understanding, almost to the point where he's like "You, know, it doesn't really metter if we can't have sex" and I'm going "Yes, it really does because I want to!"
It could possibly be the lube, we've been using one from ID, I think its a flavoured one and it used to work but maybe I've developed a reaction to it? Its strange though, I have quite bad reactions to KY, and it doesn't feel anything like that.
Its not a problem with latex because we don't use condoms.
The Gimp, I'll give your idea a try. We'll see how it goes!
