what to use besides Viagra?

niacin is also thought to improve blood flow.

I took this as part of a cholesterol lowering vitamin supplement. Had a full body flush and it scared the crap out of me. Did it help me get/keep an erection I was to scared to notice. So if you try it make sure you read the label first and don't take the ones that are 2500% recommended daily intake.

I did some quick research on the internet to find out what the antidote is, after I accidentally took a VERY big overdose. Whatever I came up with on Google, it worked very well. I haven't taken any niacin since then, other than the small amount in my daily compound vitamin supplement.

i don't seem to be afflicted by the flushing action that some have from niacin, usual dose for me is 500 in am and 750 at bedtime, also like to add 500 if i take a cialis. works for me. however my OL:rose: took at 100 by accident and thought she was on fire from the flushing. guess best to take caution with it?

If you do a search for "Clinical Trials" for most of the generic/supplement/herb type stuff listed above, you'll find that there is no actual test result evidence that most of them have any effect. There's a lot of placebo effect going on here. Yes, the L-arginine will help with the production of nitirc acid which is indeed necessary to promote erections. Prescription drugs like Viagra and Cialis do act to increase nitric acid as well as dilate blood vessels and promoting blood flow. However, you'd have to take a truck load of arginine to do the same thing.

Iicarin also helps with erections. It is the "helpful ingredient" in horny goat weed but most commercial horny goat weed is only about 15-20% iicarin. I believe you can buy higher percentage by searching the internet. It has been shown to be somewhat helpful.

Tribulus is useless despite what you'll see on weight lifting web sites. Actually, ordinary white mushrooms have a greater effect on raising testosterone over a long term. There is indeed clinical evidence of that from a research study done in California. Better yet is regular strenuous exercise like weight lifting or squats or pushups. I raised my T by about 40% with more weight work, but then again, I'm old and my T tends to be significantly lower than someone, say, in their 30's or even 40's.

As others have said, if you are having consistent ED problems, see a doctor. Having a limp dick once a year is normal for a guy in his 40's. Maybe every few months for a guy in his 60's. Any more than that, (like once a month) should be cause to send you to the doctor. ED can be an overt symptom of heart disease, hardening of the arteries, diabetic nerve damage, etc. Don't mess around and don't be embarrassed. Most of the bullshit stuff on the web (including "generic" anything from India or Mexico) is likely to be expensive floor sweepings and blue or yellow food coloring. There ARE legitimate mail order pharmacies in Canada that can save you money, but the legit ones also will require a prescription.

There haven't been a lot of direct clinical studies of herbal products, in part because the FDA is sticking to the idea that the only way to prove effectiveness is to do double blind studies and full term safety studies, the same way they do with new pharmeceutical drugs. The problem is, and this is being fought out in courts and the FDA is losing, is that for herbal treatments this is not necessarily important to do. Most herbal treatments are already assumed to be safe (and when they aren't, when supplements have been found to be dangerous they have been removed from the market), they aren't the unknowns new pharmaceuticals represent in terms of safety. In terms of effectiveness, statistical studies can give the same effect double blinds do, that when analyzing use in the field if done right they are just as effective as double blind clinical controls, and courts are agreeing with that (and yes, there is an agenda out there, double blind studies like that are expensive, that only big companies can do).

There are a lot of factors that cause ED and others are right, it is complicated. Obesity, diabetes, heart disease all can cause problems and should be checked, there is no doubt about that. But making blanket statements like "if you are 49 and need viagra, something else is wrong" belies very real facts. Men's testosterone levels drop after age 30 and by the time you hit your late 40's it can be down almost 50%, very real facts of aging.

My take on these kinds of things is try them, if they work, great, if they don't, try something else. The stuff I take seems to be working, I have been told it is placebo by others, but my point is what do you have to lose trying it? I know in my case, my blood testosterone levels were checked before I started taking this, and my T levels were at the very low end of normal (which means not a lot, btw), I had it checked recently and it is up solidly into normal range, and I can tell you it worked for me (and in my case, that was working against what female HRT had done to my body as well)... I can't promise it will work for everyone or that these things are miraculous, stuff I take is a combination of horny goat weed, gingko and ginseng with some other herbs, and it works better for me than viagra, I don't have to worry about taking it before sex....and it is a lot cheaper, the stuff I take is 36 bucks a month, 10 viagra pills on my insurance is 50 bucks *shrug*..I say try it, and see if it works, if it doesn't, try something else:)

I'm 48 and was beginning to have some minor ED issues. It wasn't that I couldn't get an erection, but that it just wasn't as hard and full as it used to be. Sometimes, I would lose it in the middle of everything as well. I did get a prescription for Levitra from my Dr and it did work, but I hated the side effects. In addition to that, it was expensive and a real PITA to have to take one every time. I did a bunch of reading on the natural supplements and decided to give Panex Ginseng a try. I take it once a day, every day and after a few weeks of taking it, my problems are gone, completely. From what I've read about it, you have to continue to take it regularly and at a pretty high dose (I take 2 pills a day) because it is cumulative in your body. It doesn't work like Viagra, etc in that you can't just take it once in a while when you want to have sex. You need to take it every day, but, it's not expensive so why not? I don't know the exact science behind it and maybe it's in my head, but all I know is that I wake up hard as a rock (which I haven't in years) and any time my wife and I have sex, I'm ready to go with no issues. It works for me. I won't make any promises beyond that.

Ginseng is part of the stuff I take and the reason it works is ginseng helps increase blood flow, so what you are doing is insuring increased blood flow in your penis. Ginko can also help as well. Levitra and viagra and such do the same thing, but rather than increase blood flow, they raise levels of nitric oxide that inhibits an enzyme that is literally an anti hardon enzyme, if i remember correctly.

alternatives

sorry for being so vague, no it's not for me..! It's for a male friend, and yes he has ED...

I just thought there were other available options, I could have sworn I read about it somewhere...
anyway, just curious, I suppose the prescription would be the best way. thanks.

In the non drug category a cock ring can actually be really helpful. A lot of time ED is caused by the valves that normally trap the blood in the penis not being as effective as we age. The cock ring helps by reducing that leakage.

Goggle using a cock ring for advise in types sizing and advice on putting it one on. They work best worn behind the scrotum so putting it on can be a little counter intuitive. The right size important too to tight is not good.

And its cheep so for 10 bucks you haven't invested that much if you don't like it.

Viagra like all the prescription drugs work but at $10 a pill it snot cheep.....not if your partner does try it and if he only needs 50mg buy the100s and cut them with pill cutter same price per pill.

I can personally vouch for l arginine. I don't have ED but took it for a while when I dabbled in body building. I have never been as hard as when I took that stuff. The missus loved it....I should buy another bottle.

Note.. as far as I know it only comes in a powder and is kind of bitter. I mixed it with v8 splash. Worked for me

A lot of the herbal remedies can have very serious side effects especially if you have underlying health issues (I.e., blood pressure).

That is true of anything you take, things like viagra and cialis warn you about not taking this is on nitrates, and so forth. Anything you take always has the caveat about being in good enough health, that is true of some vitamins, too.

Try zinc supplements. Perhaps eat more beef & eggs.

One thing that's really underrated is sun light. Take your shirt off and get a tan. That increases testosterone. I notice that I get more sexual urges when it's hot and I'm outside.
