What's up with the moralizing commenters?

It is just beyond me someone who come try to apply their strict moral subset to an erotic literature website….

Is this unique to Lit?

I had a non-anon commenter calling one of my LW stories "sick cuck/wimp crap" today. Out of curiosity I checked what the commenter had favorized, and it was 100% mom-son incest. To each their own, but... "why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

Everyone has their own kink going, some just don't want to admit it.

The readership is huge here. I have published my very first story here not 24 hours ago and it's already been viewed more than 4 k times. I have posted stories on forums where you have 500 views in a week.

With such a large pool of readers, you are bound to have some haters. You have no control over other people's actions. I know there will be hateful comments heading my way sooner or later. I have accepted this possibility from the moment I submitted my work.

One example that springs to my mind... I usually write non-consensual stories. Literotica has a rule requiring that all victim characters experience some degree of pleasure during nonconseusual sex (i.e. rape). On someone else's story, I've seen a commenter being offended because a gang-rape victim was moaning and coming near a forced orgasm; that commenter wrote that this was "offensive". Readers don't know all the rules writers have to abide to.

Being a novice myself on Literotica, I wanted to make sure my story was green lighted, so I had each of my three female characters experience one or more forced orgasms. Lol. So I might get a reader offended over this.

From what I've seen thus far, these sorts of moralizing commenters are a tiny minority, thankfully!

You would think the category or book description would give away that there might be that kind of content in the story. Yet they still get offended? I don't read that stuff much but did write a story containing some of those themes, still not my cup of tea so I don't read them and never have to worry about being offended, easy.

See thats rationality. The people getting mad WANT to find something to be mad about.

I personally don't give a crap about cheating or adultery or cuckold stories etc. Incest is just weird and holds zero interest. The have a big problem with racist themes used in numerous stories and stories that seemingly get away with writing rape tales by having the (usually) female character magically enjoy being brutalized. That it's fiction really doesn't matter imho. If that's moralizing then so be it but I am quite happy being against racist and rapey themes.
I haven't come across racist stories but if I did I wouldn't like that but the OP is not talking about that.

Would you go on a nonconsent story and rant about how "rapey" it is? If not, they aren't talking about you.

There's a lot of things that lots of people don't like on here but they're mature enough to not bash people who write things they don't like.

My 1500 word story in Loving Wives has by far the most comments. Mostly people commenting about the cheating. People are taking it way too seriously. It's just a wild fantasy.

I put cheating in the tag for a reason but people who make comments angry about it are probably misogynistic aholes and think it's bitches' fault why no one wants to touch their penises anymore or why their wives have left them.

I went looking through comments on Loving Wives stories with cheating tags and was like "ok so a bunch of incelish boomers want to hear themselves talk."

Ding ding ding!
More have commented. Someone went on a lecture about how I was an idiot because I said fictional characters can't get STDs in response to someone saying "have fun with getting a vd."

Well I had said fictional characters can't get sti's if the author decides it's not going to happen. Really the comments are funny to me. Though in a way it does make me want to avoid writing stories that really fits in Loving Wives but if I do I'll turn off commenting.

I couldn't imagine being so mad at my lot in life that I troll an erotica site to find stories I don't like just to make derogatory comments about women and talk down to the women who write them to make me feel better. What a miserable existence. They must be insufferable to live with.

well, if the folks who use the comment section for hate speech in LW or whichever category got their way like the folks who stopped Laurel / Literotica from publishing 'too political' stuff, maybe a lot of categories would be deleted? just a thought. have a nice day.

People feel power posting hateful things, especially in environments they are agreed with or not kept in check.

And they arn't miserable to live with, because I doubt they live with anyone 🙃

There are multiple options for removing comments. Choosing not to do so and coming here to complain about it is not going to garner a wellspring of sympathy.

Especially since this Web site permits the author to delete any comments. I don't use any other Web site that permits this. Bitching to the discusssion board about nasty comments on your stories is just spitting in the wind. Not a damn thing anyone using the discussion board can do about it. The author can. He/she can just delete the comments. This is the Internet. Backbiting happens here.

I haven't had such a comment on an anal story here yet.
The only one I had was a complaint that the guy didn’t get up and wash off his dick before continuing. Ironically, I actually had that, with the guy going into the washroom and hearing the other girls continuing (it was a threesome) but took it out because as nice a paragraph as it was, it kind of interrupted the flow.

When someone has this response, I consider that they have knocked themselves out of the arousal zone. They have chosen not to use this piece of erotica for what erotica is intended to be. When they go clinical rather than aroused, they no longer are appreciating the story for why it's written--to sexually arouse, which usually requires a bit of fantasy and exaggeration. I'm not going to cater to them.

Loving Wives is packed with one or two angry, lonely men with their dozens of sockpuppet accounts, and as many anonymous comments as they can make as well, until someone comes and changes their diapers. They only want misogynistic stories they call "Burn the Bitch" stories. A nasty clutch of Incels.

sooooo many Incels . . . what you describe is happening to me right now. I submitted a story about a woman's affairs before her wedding as Erotic Couplings, but the site posted it as Loving Wives. so many of these Incels try to gate-keep the LW category, and blame authors for posting in LW, when these porn-site trolls do not even know how the site operates. They are lonely losers who are bitter and angry about their free porn! It's gross. These sicko Incels of course, publish nothing, because their nasty woman-hating stories get rejected for over-the-top violence against women. But the most prolific commenters are these Incel Psychos. I delete their comments because they are gross and vile and say nasty things about women in general, and I have no respect for any of them, specifically. They are the guys who creep people out, in real life or on a porn site. What value do they add to literotica? These creeps turn everybody off.

I wonder why readers want to tell me where they think the story should go. The feedback I get has a dozen versions of where they think the story should be headed, but any direction I take will disappoint the other dozen who wanted something else. There is no winning. A lot of the time I have the story finished and have broken it up into two-page parts because that's what the readers on Lit want. But it's very rare when a reader's comments hit the nail on the head, but when it happens I chuckle to myself because at least one reader should be happy.

There's no losing if you take their comments as a compliment of being into your story and you just ignore them and write it as you want.

There are writers that will write a story to your liking and take it where you want. I just can't write stuff I'm not into. Don't get me wrong I love that people are into the stories, but half the excitement is in where the story will go.
