Well, I suck at it already. Got the ice cream (Rocky Road!) -- no ciggies (don't smoke) -- and no crybaby rock. Got my Melissa Etheridge though. Can I sub "angst rock" for "crybaby rock"

Yes, angst rock is definitely an acceptable substitute. Alcohol can substitute for ciggies, though I generally recommend them as a complimentary pair. If you abstain from both, massive amounts of any and every comfort food would be the requirement.
