When Two Worlds Collide

Krat

He showed no signs of noticing Mariet's smile, or even that she and the Princess had went back into the chambers. Instead, he simply stood as always. His eyes, still looking beyond what he was seeing, flickered in the direction following the prince for a moment before returning to their foreward gaze.

Standing still, ever watchful. And forever without purpose. Seconds after everyone had left the hall, the guards came back, making their normal rounds.

They stopped, and, almost as if ritualistic, they began to mock the guard. As always, he didn't notice they were there.

Nalia

Nalia sat heavily on her bed glancing at Mariet who seemed lost in thought. "Mariet my plan may have failed but I have an even better idea. That pixie or her people have to know someway to travel between worlds." she sighed weary now with the weight that sat on your shoulders. " Where did she go anyway?"

Aann followed after Darius, plotting and dreaming of ways to get him to take a diminuitive lady like herself seriously.

" i could send him dreams, i suppose" Aann thinks to herself.
" In dreams i could be everything he desires "

"he said hes going to a nearby town, I hope its not close"

Darius

Darius and two other gaurds rode out to the town of Tethyr. It was a small town that lately had been a place of crime. It was a good two days ride from the Djinn capital. He reigned in his horse taking in the surrounding landscape. The land seemed different, the air less pure. Shaking his head he once more gave his horse a nudge and continued on.
Nalia

Nalia gave up waiting for the faery. Her fathers library was her only hope. She would just have to accept that the gaurd would see her and he might tell her parents. She looked at Mariet, You stay here and keep a look out for my father or mother. Ignore the gaurd he wouldn't show emotion if the palace fell down around him." Mariet merely nodded her eyes thougtful. "I'll be back as fast as I can" without another word she turned and as leisurely as possible entered her fathers library.

Krat noticed the Princess leave, and watched as she headed down towards her father's library. It wasn't too far, she'd be fine. His eyes went back forward, and the two guards gave up pestering him.

"Hey, where do ya think the princess is headed? Should we check it out?"

"Who cares. C'mon, I hear the King's in one of his moods again. Never know when he might pop up."

Into the waking world

Tethyr, they called it now. It had a different name when he knew it, but any would do. It had been a rich source for him so far...

He moved forward through the side streets, tasting the air, feeling the ebb and flow of magic being used, and moved toward the strongest points. There was one here of not insignificant strength, one whom he might try to convince to serve him in some other time, but today he was not here for allies. Today it was a far more self-serving act. Today he was hungry.

Nalia

Nalia walked slowly through the library. It was incredible in here. The wealth of knowledge was so great. She headed to the back where she knew of her fathers secret study. The books she needed would be there. She reached the false wall and felt slowly around for the stone that magicaly kept the door closed. Closeing her eyes she spoke an unlocking spell and the door gave way. She pushed it open and entered afraid her father might be in here. Of course the room was empty, she headed for the bookcase. Indeed her book was right there, she took it out holding it almost tenderly. The book was a collection of every spell the elders knew. It also contained Athkatla's entire history, and it also spoke of Earth. Her father forbid her to read any of the books in his study but this was a special occasion. She turned tucked the book in her cloak and left the secret room. Mariet and her would leave the palace and head to the town of Tethyr. There she knew an old Djinn who would be able to help her understand the rituals in the book. Nalia slipped out of the library and hurried to her room to pack.

Darius

Darius dismounted stretching his stiff legs. "We'll camp here tonight and should reach Tethyr by tomorrow afternoon." He motioned to the gaurds. "Get your bedding set up and I'll start a fire." he turned towards a pile of sticks. He muttered a quick fire incantation and soon had a nice fire to keep them warm. Sighing softly he set up his bedding and sat down. "Greg you take first watch" he told one of the gaurds "I'll take second. With the trouble in these areas now a days I don't want to take any chances" with that said he leaned back closing his eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.

Anomen

Anomen stood in his garden his eyes closed his body still. He knew something was coming. Something evil, he could feel it infect the pure air. He lowered his head questing for guidance. He must prepare something for the girl, she was truly their only hope. He turned to his house and entered his office. Take a parchment and paper he quickly wrote all she would need know and left a special gift. He put both in a false book and put the book on the shelf. He then turned and layed down on his bed awaiting his fate.

Death comes to all...

He entered the house easily... quietly... stalking his victim. He was an old one, and was strong for it. But not strong enough...

He tasted the air again, and followed the scent to the bedroom. There he found the old one. Oddly enough, reclined in his bed.

"Anomen," he whispered. "I've come for you..."

"I knew this time would come, when the first of my brethren fell, Lucien. I'm ready for you."

Lucien laughed. "Indeed? Ready for me? What can you do old one? You are nothing."

"It's not I, you need fear, Dark One. Come, take what you will from me. I tire of this."

Lucien moved closer to the bed. "So, you don't intend to fight me like the others?"

Anomen shook his head. "It would serve no purpose. You would only feed on my power all the more if I did. Come and take me..."

Lucien frowned and snarled, and suddenly he was over the old Djinn, and the old one gasped... then screamed a curse.

The Power buffeted Lucien, and he drank deep, pulling all that was the old Djinn out of its now empty shell, and into himself.

When it was over, the old one lay dead, his eyes open, staring up at the ceiling in horror, his face an empty mask of pain.

And the Dark One vanished...

Krat

He sighed, leaning against the wall as the Princess returned. He could tell by the way she moved, and the slight bulge that she brought back with her something she had not left with. He also knew, judging fromn the fact she'd said she was going to her father's library, what that object likely was.

One of the old books. He sighed. She shouldn't be taking books from his majesty's library. But, he was bound to serve, and had been ordered not to tell anyone. He closed his eyes, turned his head towards the ceiling.

"Why must things always be difficult? I should have been a cobbler, like my father." He sighed. Well, the only thing he could do was make sure she didn't get herself in too much trouble. He'd have to make sure she took him with her when she decided to leave the palace.

He only hoped she wouldn't try to be too sneaky.

Nalia

Nalia was in the process of packing only things she needed including a considerable amount of money, when she felt a chill slip down her back. She shuddered her eyes going to the window. Something had just happened, something horrible. Without a word she turned back to the task at hand and began packing in earnest. When she was done and ready to leave she finally looked at Mariet. "You don't have to come" she said softly. Mariet shook her head "Of course I do. No one wants me here. You are the only person who even notices I'm alive. I'm coming and thats all there is to it." Nalia smiled warmly. "I've found a few old outfits of my brothers. I had then stuffed in my closet for just a situation like this. We will go in disguise and plus these clothes are easier to move around in. Hurry put yours on." They both dressed in record time and afterwards they hesitated. If they left then there would be no turning back. "Are you ready?" Nalia asked softly. Mariet merely nodded her eyes wide with excitment and a bit fear. "Then let us be on our way. The gaurd may wonder what we are doing but he is ordered to silence. Let's go" She grabbed her bag and motioned Mariet to follow her. She didn't even glance at the gaurd as her and Mariet hurried down the hallway hoping to remain unseen.

Elders

A group of 12 Djinn sat around a table within the sacred chambers. They were the elders, the oldest of the Djinn with power beyond comprehension. The only problem was they were forbidden to interfere with the world of Athkatla. That was the price they paid for the power to seperate worlds. Now they sat around their table and watched through a magick scrying mirror as Nalia slipped out of her room with her maid. "She is young. She does not realize the severity of the situation." One spoke his voice deep and powerful. "That may be but she is our only hope. Her ancestor proved his worth and I am sure she will as well." There was a murmer of agreement. "Lucien is strong. He may recognize the blood lines within her. He will know she is not Djinn, at least not entirely." "That changes nothing. She will know in time her true heritage and she will know her true destiny." The youngest of the Elders shook his head "Can we not at least tell her parents? They may try to imprison her as she fears." "We cannot interfere you know that. She must discover this all on her own. She has incredible power within her. She just does not know it. Soon the fate of both worlds will be decided." With that said the Elders fell silent watching, always watching the world around them.

Krat

He sighed, and started off after them. After a few steps, he paused, turned, and unfolded a triple-layer illusion. It was the most complex, non changing illusion there was. It was of himself. Luckilly, he didn't move too often. It would fool the patrolling guards until daybreak, at least, buy the Princess some time.

After all, what kind of guard would he be if he let her wander off alone? He sighed, and started off after her. He only wished he'd been given the chance to pack something. He ran a hand over his royal colors, casting a minor illusion to make them the more drab colors of the royal messengers. It was likely no one would notice him following them out.

But still, he stayed just far enough behind them to know where they were going without it being too obvious he was following them.

Finally Darius goes to sleep, just what Aann has been waiting somewhat impatiently all day for.

She Lands close by and quickly reviews her plan to enter Darius's dreams.
"once I get in there and hes sure to want me" she thinks to herself.

She concentrates and slips into the cracks between reality and dreams

She looks around and quickly finds the dream shes looking for.

She grins at what she sees "this is going to be fun"

Nalia

Nalia paused sensing something. She glanced behind her but saw no one. She shrugged, it was probably just nerves. They were almost to the servant stairway that would out back where the stables were. She was hoping she could slip in and grab her horse and one for Mariet. They definitly couldn't travel all the way to Tethyr on foot. She glanced around a corner then motioned Mariet to follow her, they slipped silently through the door and hurried down the stairway. She heard a servant up ahead and quickly grabbed Mariet and pulled her into a small alcove where she quickly cast a cloaking spell on them. The servant passed by unaware of the two hiding girls. Nalia then motioned to Mariet and they hurried down the stairs the rest of the way and out through the small storage room to the world outside. They hurried to the stables and slipped inside. A single servant boy stood speaking soflty to the horses. She murmed a sleeping incantation and the boy fell to the ground soundlessly sound asleep. Nalia opened the door to her horses stall smiling warmly at her. When she had her horse out she selected one for Mariet and led both horses outside. Again she felt as if they were being followed but there was no one in site. She really was getting paranoid. "Come on we have to hurry before someone sees us." both Nalia and Mariet mounted and were soon galloping swiftly to the town of Tethyr.

Darius

Darius was dreaming, which in itself was a shock. He usually didn't dream, not if he could help it. The dreams he had were not very pleasant. Yet this one did not seem so bad. He was standing in a clearing but it wasn't a normal one. He smelled magick in the air and frowned glancing around for the source. He also smelled a feminine scent. One unlike any he had ever known. He felt determined to find the owner and he didn't know why. This was all so strange he thought to himself. "Hello is anyone there?" he asked curious now more then ever. "Reveal yourself if you please."

Aannealliea Katrina du' Chaunsion

Darius hears a whisper Softly beckoning him out of the clearing and under the trees the words are indistinct but somehow the meaning is clear

With no real concious thought of how he got there Darius finds himself standing beneath a Huge tree beside an incredibly shapely woman, Short but not to short, blue grey eyes, Wild Reddish blonde hair falls over her shoulders and tries to hide her nakedness.

Darius feels that they have been talking and that he knows her well in the way of dreams though he cant figure out how that can be or what they were talking about mere seconds ago, all he remembers are the words "my name is Aannealliea but you can call me Aann"

Aann opens her arms to him Darius feels an uncommon lust come upon him mysteriously, Aanns arm beckon irrisitabley and her hair falls away to show her nipples hardening like tiny penises standing firm and erect.

Aann Gloats to herself " I've got him now, that wasnt so hard "

Krat

Krat grabbed his own horse, where most of his income went. He quickly got astride it, following the Princess and her maid out. Once they were far enough from the castle, he dropped the messenger illusion, moving his horse up to hers.

"Didn't I tell you, Princess, that you couldn't go out alone?"

Darius

Darius studied the flame haired woman sure that she must be a dryad. She was incredibly beautiful, her eyes seemed to draw him in. Now Darius hadn't been exactly celibate over the years but he had never felt like this. He had never desired another woman as he did this one. He remember her name was Aann, different yet beautiful. He felt himself drawn close to her his eyes meeting hers. Something in him told him to stop, that this wasn't right, but Aann's lure was to strong. Before he knew it he was holding her body against his as his lips took hers. She tasted so sweet, so right. He soon became lost in her lips his hand fisting in her hair. He felt a groan of pure desire well up inside of him. He was just cupping her breast when a voice intruded upon his performance. "Darius! Wake up!" He tried to ignore the voice but it continued to intrude upon the moment. He felt the world begin to fade, the girl slowly disappearing. He tried to hold on but it was no use.
Darius woke up with a jerk his eyes slowly adjusting. The image of the woman still fresh in his mind. His body was hard and aching and he winced as he sat up. He looked up at his friend Greg. "What is it?" Greg noticed Darius's disgruntled atitude. "We caught a spy. He was creeping around the campsite for almost an hour before we decided to aprehend him. I think you should talk to him. He seems hysteric." Darius sighed abandoning hope of ever seeing the flame haired girl again. After all she was just a figmunt of his imagination.

Nalia

Nalia jumped only slightly when the gaurd spoke. "I knew someone had to be following us." She glanced at him noticing Mariet's face turn red. That was strange. "Krat isn't is?" she asked soflty. "Well Krat my business outside of the palace is extremely important and confidential." she shrugged "you wouldn't be interested in it anyway. Now if you will excuse me Mariet and I have business to take care of."

Krat

"So in other words, your highness, you want me to go back to the palace, so, in the morning, when everyone finds out you're not there, I can be arrested for letting you vanish in the middle of my watch. Brilliant. And I'm sure your father will be estatic to hear that I can't tell him where you went, or why, because I was ordered to secrecy? I'm sure that will go over well. What's the worst that could happen? He could have me executed for failing my duties and insubordination to the crown?"

He gave the Princess a long look.

"No, I think I'll go with you. It'll be a lot easier to keep my job that way."

Nalia

Nalia smiled slightly before making her expression blank. She had wanted Krat to come with them but she didn't want to admit to it. Krat was strong and despite his quiet demeanor her was an intelligent Djinn. He may come in handy "Ok you can come with us. But I don't want any argument about what I do or where I go. Deal? Now lets get a move on, I want to get to Tethyr as soon as possible."

Darius

Darius looked at the young man who sat there his eyes wide. "Who are you boy and why are you here?" The boy turned his fear filled eyes to Darius "I'm sorry sir. I've been running all day and the scent of your food drew me." Darius raised a skeptical eyebrow "Then why were you hiding and spying on us?" The boy bit his lip "I was scared. I've seen alot of strange happenings lately. The air smells of danger and evil." Darius paused, he had felt the disturbance he wondered if the boy told the truth. "Greg feed him and give his some refreshments. But keep a good eye on him." Greg nodded and untied the kid. What harm can a kid cause?

Krat

He nodded, and looked ahead. He didn't speak again. He fell back a little, fingers curling around the hilt of his sword. His eyes looked away, and he turned his head, scanning the area around them slowly. He moved slowly, as if tired, or as if he didn't care what happened.

Or maybe both.

Nalia

As the evening wore on the weather became cooler. The stars seemed to give no light and soon it was almost to dark to see the trails. Nalia didn't like this one bit, something was definitily happening. She could sense it, an evil permeating the land. She raised her hand for her two companions to stop. "We will camp just inside the line of trees. There is a river close to here I believe. We will wake before sunrise and hurry on our way. I want to reach Tethyr by tomorrow night." She led her horse over to the spot she had picked and dismounted. Mariet did the same stretching her sore legs but not once complaining. "Kart will you create a fire while I set up Camp? Mariet help me out will you?" She then turned and began setting up camp.

Krat

Krat dismounted, and went into the procedure of setting the horse down fr the night. After a few minutes, he waked into the cleraing, and made an area for the fire. He went of, collecting firewood setting it up to make the campfire. After a while, all that was needed was a fire. He looked to the maid, and the pointed at the firewood.

"You should know the spell to start a fire."

He sat down, back against a nearby tree, and yawned, closing his eyes as he settled himself down. "Wake me if anything attacks, kills, or rapes you two."

Mariet

Mariet looked at the gaurd her eyes wide at his words. Her do a spell? Had he not heard all the stories of her mistakes? How she nearly blew up the throne room last year. She looked at the pile of sticks hesitating. For some reason she didn't want to mess up in front of Krat. She looked for help in Nalia but she had her back turned humming as she took care of her horse. Mariet looked at the sticks again. Ok this could be done, she took a deep breath. She spoke the words softly motioning to the area of sticks. At first nothing happened then slowly smoke began to seep out between the sticks and soon small flames were peeking out. Mariet smiled and sat down, as she did so the fire exploded to about ten feet high before settling down. Mariet merely sat there trying to look as small as possible.

Krat

Krat tossed a few sticks from the pile he'd made of firewood into the fire. They crackled. He scratched at one of his legs, yawning as if a fire jumping ten feet into the air was the most natural occourance in the world. He licked at his lips, and closed his eyes.

"Don't let the fire run out. I suggest taking shifts, as one of you should be awake at all times. Bandits or something. I'd do it myself, but this was your plan. G'night."

He was snoring lightly in a manner of minutes.

"finally found my way back" Aann thinks
She has had time to work off some of her frustrations at not getting what she wants buts shes even madder at herself for getting dumped from the dream so suddenly and not being able to find her way back.

Aann notices that shes not exactly back really.
She seems to be close as the general terrain is familiar from the recent trip but there is no clue where exactly Darius is around here.

"Which way to go" Aann is just thinking to herself when a flash of fire grabs her attention from just a bit off.

"hmm might as well check that out" Aann decides.

A few minutes later Aann Finds herself looking down at Nalia's campsite "what luck, She'll know which direction Tethyr is in"

Aann flies down to where Aann was just finishing with her horse and becomes visible saying "we meet again Princess, how goes your quest?"

Nalia

Nalia glanced up from her horse when Aann appeared. "It's going alright I suppose no thanks to you. I had to bring that gaurd with me lest he go back and tell my father." Nalia smiled "Despite the set back though everything seems to be going well. I have the materials I need and soon we will reach Tethyr. There I will be able to figure out just what these ancient symbols mean. Though I studied all the old languages the symbols in this book were written before the great war." Nalia looked at Aann. "Your welcome to stay here tonight and accompany us to Tethyr. Just make yourself comfortable."
