Where did you meet your sweetie?

I met my husband at Burger King. We were both 15 and working there after school.

Through an ad in the personals, in a weekly newspaper. This was before there was such a thing as an online personal. We've been married 18 years.

I met hubby in Korea. We were stationed there for a year. I was single & he was married. Started out as the typical overseas affair, but when it was time for him to leave he proposed. I got pissed and told him he didn't have the right to propose and that there were laws against that sort of thing. Three months later on Christmas I received a box from him, it contained an engagement ring wrapped in divorce paperwork. I cried. I returned to the states in January, he picked me up at the airport, drove me to Michigan to met his parents and we were married two weeks later. Been married 6 years and he's still romantic and I still love him with all my heart.

*grumble grumble* This is the kind of thread I usually avoid, but I'm trying to be more trusting and open, so here's a short response from Mr. Grumpy...

Met? In a theatre development workshop. Fell in love? On a dance floor.

That was your hand, ooh. I figured it was one of the guys. Mmm. what a lovely touch.

Through a dating service we had both joined. We were both single parents looking for partners. We had both been in it about two years before we found each other. That was more than 4 years ago.

Count me among those that don't have a sweetie! Even though I wouldn't mind at all, but last week I was told that I'll find one in about a year.

About two weeks before I leaving to study in Germany for a year, I was at the house of the guy I was dating at the time. While he was off doing something in the kitchen, his housemate came home with a bunch of friends. My sweetie was one of those friends. I remember sitting there, bored out of my mind, talking with a friend of mine when my sweetie walked in and started up the stairs.

My friend was much more outgoing than yours truly, and she called up the stairs to get his attention. When he turned to ask her what she wanted, I got a look at his sweet, adorable face (he's got the most startlingly blue eyes) and fell in love, then and there. He was really shy, and my friend was heckling him, so he fled up the stairs quickly, and I didn't see him again that evening. I did make it my business to find out his name, however. :)

While I was in Germany, my boyfriend would send me email forwarded from his housemate, and it was all stuff my sweetie had written, funny stories and jokes and such. I was so infatuated I would go nuts getting these vicarious emails from him and he didn't even know I existed.

When I returned to the US a year later, things had changed. I was single again, and I'd finally gotten this gorgeous boy I'd seen for only a moment out of my mind. The same friend who had heckled him out of my life invited me to a party being held at the house of a friend of hers. Having nothing better to do, I went, and who should I see there but Mr. Adorable?

To make a long story short, I finally got to talk to him. He was surprised to hear he had a secret admirer, more surprised to find out it was me. We got to know each other, at first as friends, but the chemistry was undeniable. The rest is, as they say, history.

Online. Not here, no, local BBS. I was still in high school, and it was the best RPG board around. He started flirting with me after I got permission to start a networked religious debate forum on it. Little did I know that he was actually flirting with me in hopes of getting a date with a friend of mine from New Jersey who'd visited the month before! :D

That was around September. Around October I was co-running his BBS with him. Around late December we became lovers. Around February he snuck one of his rings onto my hand - he didn't get around to *asking* me to marry him till around April. ;)

Eight years ago? Huh. Wow. Guess it has been...

As being the case right now, I don't have a sweetie in particular........but my ex-wife I met at a party at a friends house after going to see Molly Hatchet play and we wound up talking all night long........3 years later we were married.......

My most recent serious g/f I met her at a sports bar. I went back to the bar a few times, talked to her a bit more and then asked her out.......

my wife

I met mine on a Radio station date line. Two months later we got married and have had a wonderful relatioship for the past 5 years. Funny how thing's work out like that.

Although I haven't officially met him yet (and I will) I met him right here at Lit.

Havoc honey, I love you xxxxx

It's wierd that so many people are meeting on the internet now a days, two years ago, I didn't even know what a hard drive was. Anyway, I met my honey online, but not on lit.
I visited his website and wrote him an email, telling him what I thought of it and they we started writing each other back and forth. Then we started to IM one another and that evolved to phone conversations, and that evolved into us meeting. He lives about three hours away so he came down one weekend and when we finally met face to face my heart beat ten time faster. This after having broken off an almost four year realtionship at the beginning of the year. Now I know what I felt for my ex is nothing compared to what I feel for my boyfriend now. We get to see each other every weekend. It's been two months now. I hope there are many many more. He makes me very happy :)

A little over thirty years ago

I needed help with non-liner equations, and was set up with a cute little brunett, who made my heart flutter. We were maried 4 years latter, and now almost (in 4 days) 26 years latter, she is still the smartest person I know ( look who she married) and still makes my heart flutter.
