Where in this world, or in your mind...do you feel free? It can be made up, it can be real, it can be a combo of both. Is it a song, or a story, picture or a memory. What do you conjure up when you feel free?

I can start with....

I feel free when I'm on the back of my 4wheeler, flying around a trail in the middle of a pine forest. Listening to the animals in the woods, keeping an eye out for stray deer or bear and breathing in the air.

In an old bookstore with lots of big, dusty volumes on shelves and in stacks all around me get my head out of the day to day monotony and remind me that things can have an impact long after they happen. I find cares and worries slip away and I just feel really relaxed and really good. :)

I always feel free anywhere.......:cool::D

Walking somewhere by myself, with no other humans in sensory distance. Preferably the woods.

Biking down a big hill after going up for what feels like forever, and matching speed with some of the cars.

Jumping into the ocean with all my clothes on--whether June or November.

I feel free in her arms.

On the beach, wind blowing in my hair, sand in my feet, sound of the ocean.

Listening to music.

I have two places. One of 'em is the huntin' land that my brother and dad used to own together. Far away from civilization, tons of woods to walk around in. Right in the middle of it all is a clearing where they set up a camp type area.

Second place is a place on the beach. It's right behind a dune and I go out there a lot at night, always seems to be undisturbed. I can sit there and watch the waves crash in under the moonlight and feel the breeze blowin' my hair in every which direction.

Anytime I'm dancing with my sweetie...whether it be to Frank Sinatra in the kitchen...oldies out on the deck in our backyard...or in a club to a mixture of country and rock music.

Holding her in my arms, leading her around, gazing into her eyes when she smiles her amazing smile...yep, that's an amazing feeling...

Sailing "The WindWard Rail" on a beam reach down the Barnegat Bay into a swath of flat water shimmering in light of a full moon with nothing but the sound of water sliding along her waterline.
At a trail shelter in the Adrondak's High Peaks after dropping my back pack, removing my boots, donning my moccosins, pouring a glass of Glenlivet in a camping cup, sitting dwon to reflect on the breath taking view I had early in the day from the top of Mt.Haystack.

Sitting in the middle of "my" glacier in my mind, surrounded by majestic, snowy mountain tops of the Canadian Rockies.

:)

I LOVE these answers!! Very cool.

Let's see...another place I feel free:

swinging on the swings at the playground. I love that feeling of getting the legs pumping, increasing the speed and leaning back to stare at the sky while I swing back and forth. The feeling of the wind through my hair is awesome. I also love the fact that it makes me feel like a kid again, the playground is STILL a magical place, where you can be on a rocketship, or on the plank on a pirate ship. Having kids has made me a kid again, for sure.

Long bike rides that are fast and furious along country roads, hills and forests.....

Another Recent trend...

I like to drive upto this parking area on a cliff that overlooks the North Sea, with the beach far below. In the distance, to the far right is the pier and lighthouse. I saw a rainbow overlapping it today.
In the distance black n grey rain clouds approach, and to my left a car with a couple having sex. All this scenery, all for just me, whilst i lay back with some tunes, with the window open and the wind on my face as i munch on my subway. If only i had someone with me...looks back across to that car ;)

Alone on or by the water. A light breeze dancing in my hair, the stars and moons prancing with their reflections in the roving water. solitude, middle of the night,.

Lovely images... :)

I feel free when I'm out at Lake Michigan. I spent my summers there, and I still feel like I'm "home" when I'm out there. Watching the waves crash on the shore, seeing the boats cruising along, wondering their destination.

It's absolutely beautiful in the winter too. All frozen and white, covered in ice and snow. That's my "freeing" place.

....in the woods, either alone or with company. The colours, textures and sounds brush against my skin and always make me smile. I have not a single care as I walk across the mossy ground :)

In the woods, preferably in early autumn.

Standing by a big body of water, feeling the breeze caress my face, staring at the vast expanse.

In the middle of the desert, watching the ink black sky slowly disappearing with the sunrise.

Standing on a cliff, overlooking the ocean or valley or desert or mountains, feeling the wind whip my hair.

Sitting next to a fire, staring in the embers.

In my favourite cafe, people watching. In a museum, surrounded by art and artifacts. In music.

Standing at the top of a mountain, after spending the last hour hiking to its peak. My board is strapped to my feet, I've just had a 420 session with my friends, and we're staring out across the peaks and valleys stretched below us. I pull out my flask and take a sip of Jameson, the burning feeling smooth yet silky, flowing down my throat and warming my belly. I look over the crest I'm about to drop into...15 foot vertical drop into fresh, untracked snow....trees dotting the line I plan on taking, huge boulders covered in snow taunting me to fly off them. I look over at my friends...all I see is my own reflection in the goggles facing me. I smile...THIS is freedom....I jump off the cornice and the next 10 minutes are serene, powder spraying, adrenaline pumping bliss...

Thanks to this weekend...I found a new one!

On the shore of Lake Superior with a thick wool sweater on, jeans and my hiking boots. Holding a mug of hot coffee watching the waves crash up on the rocks. Then to look over and watch my kids throw rocks in to the water, wearing themselves out more than any hike around the points could do, watching them laugh and giggle as they make a huge splash or hit another rock in the water. The smell of the lake, so clean and crisp. And then looking up to see a huge cargo ship float by, on it's way to god knows where. Pure bliss.:D
