A goat-headed, batwinged figue with an inverted pentacle atop his forehead strides outward, one hand raised i blessing, the other lowered and holding and inverted torch. Chained to the pedistal on which he sits are a male and female couple with the animal features of horns and tails. The chains are those of material life. The horns and tail of the couple represent man's animal nature. The card signifies extraordinary energy bound by dualism and materialism. This card is the opposite of The Lovers.

Oh, well, since it's all for fun anyway I went right ahead and got The Magician. Whose description contains the line "A young man raises a doubly terminated wand in his right hand. The wand is held vertically, a tool for the unification of heaven and earth."

I rarely write about wands being doubly terminated - but they do strive to unify heaven and earth at times...

the Fool ain't a bad thing. it can mean a new beginning, one with hope and with no preconception of the difficulties ahead, which, let's face it, can put you off making the journey - that knowledge of how hard it might be.
