Who plays you in the movie of your life?

Damn, that's got to be one hell of a depressing movie. Haven't seen it yet. I saw Nymphomania and it made tons of sex depressing. Von Trier is not an uplifting movie maker.
It's fucked. But not in the SAW sooner or later you're brain allows you "scary, but ultimately it's a movie."

It more cores you from the inside out b/c you can't ever quite shake we all are a minor chemical imbalance away from existential threat level misery.

Take Shelter is another interesting exploration of mental illness but not so overwhelming. More a wider lens over the influence obsessive behavior has on family dynamics/where blind trust reaches limits.

And Michael Shannon is kinda crazy good in whatever he chooses to do.

David Spade. But with less fashion sense.

Oh, I also once had a woman at a party tell me I looked like Tom Cruise.

She was, of course, very, VERY drunk.

Someone saw a photo of me and thought James Spader, in Black List. I'm okay with that, although I don't wear a black hat.

I don’t think my mood has ever recovered from watching Melancholia - even Kirsten Dunst nude didn’t lift it.

The title says it all. I think Dancer in the Dark is the only one of his films I've seen straight through. I realize that the musical numbers are Selma's fantasies, but - they just seem all wrong. Jeff's corpse coming back to "life" and singing with her; that was certainly original.

I would have to go with Demian Bichir. We're about the same age, and losing our hair at the same rate.

Acting is something that I’ve done professionally. That is, I’ve received money from strangers who observed my performances, and afterward the strangers did not demand their money back. So I would portray myself. But I wouldn’t cross a SAG/AFTRA picket line.

This must have been done before. I was inspired by a convo on a now locked thread. Evan Rachel Wood and a young Jodie Foster were the suggestions from others (oh and Grace Kelly).

I’ll repeat, that my choice is incredibly flattering to me (and she’s younger too), but I pick Emily Alyn Lind. Same body type, not dissimilar facially (but much prettier), same skin tone, and comparable hair color / waviness (if I’ve just lightened it).

How about you?

@EmilyMiller Do you know the actress Olivia Taylor Dudley? She was in The Magicians and I think of her when I see your avatar.

So like this?

I can kinda see what you mean. But her facial structure is very different (even with the glasses I added). Jawline is not right. Eyes are set closer together (I’ve been told I have fetal alcohol syndrome eyes, nice, right?). Mouth a little tighter.

I strikes me that I’m comparing her to me, rather than my avatar. I guess she is pretty close to the avatar in some respects.
