Why am I being bumped from Lit so often?

Does anyone else have this problem?

When I am logged onto Lit lately I get bumped off and have to log back on again if I have been inactive for a while (say, 10 minutes). This happened to me several months ago so I sent an email to the webmaster. The reply included a url that would supposedly repair something in my cookies file. And it worked.

Now, despite having replaced my computer, I am having the same problem. It's especially frustrating when I take a while to compose a PM only to be bumped when I try to submit the PM. And, of course, I lose all that I had written in the process.

I have already written the webmaster but got no response this time. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on and if there is a fix I can apply?

Thanks.

Go to Your UserCP -> Edit Options and make sure that "Automatically log in", and "Browse with cookies" are both set to YES and that your browser is set to allow Literotica to use cookies.

Thanks for the response. I browse with cookies, I have IE set specifically to allow cookies from Literotica, but for reasons of personal privacy I have the automatic log-in set at NO.

Actually, I have tried both settings for the automatic log-in and the change has no effect on this problem.

I experience the same cookie problem here at LitErotica.

It occurs because this forum sets browser session cookies and not permanent cookies.

Technically it has something to do with the expiry time set in the cookie.

So is there a fix? It seems to me that because this does not happen to everyone that it must be a consequence of a certain set of variables working together. And thus there ought to be a way to prevent it.

I know it's not so simple as a matter of which browser version one is using because there must be thousands using IE 6 as I do and if we all had this problem the boards would light up with complaints.

Any suggestions?

I don't know how to fix your problem, but I have learned over the years to always hilight and copy whatever I want to post or PM before I hit the submit button. That way if I do run into any problem with it posting, I don't have to try to retype it.

Yep. It's a little sad, but I have resorted to this as well. :(

At the risk of posting a spelling wrror, I'll say that I generally open my word processor to compose a post and the cut/paste to get the benefit of the spelling checker.

I don't think there is an easy fix. It looks like the problem is within the forum software, in the way it uses cookies.
Nothing we can fix by adjusting our browsers.

I am not 100% sure of this but as a web developer this looks like that scenario. Maybe there is a newer version of vBulletin that fixes this issue.

I suppose the problem is no present when one chooses
"Automatically login when you return to the site?"
