But of course, the far-right talk radio segment believes in free speech. So much so that you should see how it praises dissent on the right, like Chris Buckley, Kathleen Harris, David Frum and Colin Powell. Free thought is SO alive and well there.

Didn't you hear, Colin Powell's endorsement is really on 3/5 of true endorsement. ;)

Add in the "food stamp" mailer with chicken and watermelon on it, the Jemima-esque pancake batter sold at the RNC, do we have more time here?

How about the anti-muslim confrontational vid, which I still suspect was a poorly executed campaign stunt and that's why the rational Muslim McCain campaign organizer gent in it (who is running for congress, but shhhh) got his appearances pulled. Still. Believeable in entirety that people were making that bumper sticker.

Or the completely FAKE incident of the "attacked" McCain campiagner which had everyone frothing that we on the left are more dangerous. Hey, look over there. Sarah Palin in effigy.

No it's not *right* but this is like saying there's a bug in my soup when selling infested truckloads of wheat and isn't that the same thing?

The Only Explanation

This explains a lot, possibly even giving some weight to Netzach's self-immolation hypothesis.

Courtesy of Politico.com:

In convo with Playbook, a top McCain adviser one-ups the priceless “diva” description, calling her “a whack job.”

They're getting closer to admitting the truth.

Dude - and that's on POLITICO.

It's pretty unheard of, and actually pretty churlish of them to stick a fork in her at this point. It's a very strong statement of just what working around her must actually be like. You don't make *that* many enemies anymore purely based on having a vagina.

Yeah, I wonder how much is her own behavior, and how much is just frustration of McCain staffers because they had no say in the pick, or how she was "rolled out."

No doubt some of it is simply wrenching frustration being taken out on the nearest convenient not-one-of-us target.

Words fail me:

ABC News' Steven Portnoy reports: In a conservative radio interview that aired in Washington, D.C. Friday morning, Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin said she fears her First Amendment rights may be threatened by "attacks" from reporters who suggest she is engaging in a negative campaign against Barack Obama.

Palin told WMAL-AM that her criticism of Obama's associations, like those with 1960s radical Bill Ayers and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, should not be considered negative attacks. Rather, for reporters or columnists to suggest that it is going negative may constitute an attack that threatens a candidate's free speech rights under the Constitution, Palin said.

"If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations," Palin told host Chris Plante, "then I don't know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media."

Nice one, Mrs. Candidate.

I know it chaps your ass that you're going to be history's punchline, like Dan Quayle. Keep working on that one.

She has become addicted to celebrity. It won't lead her anywhere good. It's a really frustrating thing to chase.

Right now she thinks she has the world by a tail but soon enough even she won't be able to be delusional enough to miss the fact that she has been bitten by this particular beast.

So sayeth the Fury.

The logical fallacy in this... and almost everything else she says... boggles my mind.

Dude - you nailed it. She's Sarah The Governor.

Sarah Palin gets a prank call:

Holy cow

I couldn't listen. First off, I don't imagine that it's real. Secondly, if it was real then I'd just feel too bad for the woman. However much I disagree with her politics or believe she is unfit for the office of VP I've never been a big fan of humiliation humor.

Sarah Palin didn't campaign for the position of GOP running mate. She was likely as surprised when approached as most of America was by the announcement. This may all unfold like that horror story of the geek-girl being asked to the prom by the star of the football team only to be humiliated and laughed out of the school after she's gone through pains to be worthy of him.

That's not Palin's fault. She is what she is --- a small-town mayor and hockey-mom who's never traveled nor been exposed to the larger world. This is a perfectly decent thing to be. It fits the definition of lots of Americans and there's nothing to be ashamed of. The problem is that she was invited to a party she could never fit in at, much less become host of.

It's real, alright. I heard it on Hardball yesterday. You could probably find a YouTube of it, if you wanted to.

She's a governor, and she accepted. She had to know what VP-nominees go through, but she said yes anyway. And then after that, she failed to do her homework and understand very simple things like what the VP does and who the First Amendment protects. I haven't read the Constitution in a long-ass time, but these are things that even I know.

I'm weeping blood and trying to keep my head from exploding over that particular piece you quoted there.

It is real.

I just couldn't ignore the fact that this women who may become our next VP truly believed that this was the president of France and then proceeded to either ignore just about every word that came out of his mouth or just pretend to understand his "funny" accent.

There were just a few parts that boggled my mind (Not quoted exactly):

Fake Nick: "We could go hunting in a helicopter, it looks like so much fun"
Palin: "Haha yeah, lotsa fun, meet and hunt at the same time. Two birds with one stone!"
Fake Nick: "I just love killing those little animals!"
Palin: "Haha yep!"

...

Fake Nick: "I saw that documentary about your life... Nailin' Palin, I just loved it!"
Palin: "Awwww thank you!"

wait till Wednesday morning and you guys wake up to find she's VPOTUS.
bwahahaha

I agree, this is pretty much exactly how I felt about that, play by play.

I don't even hate Joe the Racist. This is what happens when you turn people into symbols and you don't vet them for two seconds, and it's not pretty.

The laugh, sadly, will be on you also. All of us. I find that almost everyone really REALLY excited about McCain OR Obama actually has no freaking clue what a president does and how they accomplish or do not, their desired policy.

You would be crying if you looked at reality. If the VPOTUS can be punked like this, you think the legislative body isn't going to be doing it to her when McCain falls over?

I think you need one more option in this poll for this forum -

Why do you hate Sarah Palin?

She tops from the bottom.
