I'm not a legal expert but I think that it is, but as with a lot of things I could very well be wrong though. Again I'm by no means a legal scholar. However putting aside legal...well...legalities if collusion is not a crime it's still shady as shit, and my feelings is the majority of americans will agree with that sentiment.

That argument of whether collusion is a crime may save him from impeachment but could also still ruin his presidency more than it already has. It will be seen as him getting off on a technicality. Legally he'd be safe. Politically however...it'd be over for him.

What transpired between Team Tromp and the Russian gov't probably is not collusion, but IS conspiracy to violate US election laws. Team Tromp and Cambridge Analytics interaction may be collusion. But CA worked out of UK and is exposed to UK laws. I hear British prisons aren't nice.

Impeachment (indictment) is a political act, not judicial. Congress defines the "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" to charge a federal official. For Wee Willie Clinton, it was lying about sex. The first charge against Nixon was obstruction of justice. One of Andrew Johnson's "High Crimes" was firing Senate-approved Cabinet officers without getting Senate OK to oust them. Note that none were convicted.

Tromp is unlikely to be impeached, tried, convicted, and removed. Gups won't do it. Dums won't unless they can get Pence too. But, with Tromp and family facing federal and state charges that can't be pardoned away, he may get desperate. New NSA Bolton wants to nuke Iran and Korea. Oh goody. Will a shooting war save Tromp's ass as it did Dubya's?

I strongly doubt Trump will ever be impeached or, if he is, I doubt even more that he will be convicted. Impeachment is not intended to be just dirty politics. It is intended to be a way to remove a genuine scoundrel from office. Like him or not, Trump isn't that, nor was Bill Clinton, although the latter did commit a felony.

The Dems know this, and they also know the GOP could take revenge when the opportunity arrives. The next time there is a GOP majority in the House and a Dem president, the House will vote to impeach for no reason except revenge. There would be no other benefit, because the Senate would not vote by a 2/3 majority to convict, but the Dem president would be made to look bad, which would have been the objective.

They wouldn't use the word collusion anyway because the legal term would be conspiracy. Did Russia and Trump collude to try to win the election? Yes. Is it a crime to collude? Yes, but Trump wouldn't be charged with colluding to commit treason, he'd be charged with conspiring to commit treason.

You wouldn't even need that because all you would need to do is connect Russia to paying off the Trump campaign and that would do it.
