Why is Mike Pence running for President?

Yes, yes, I've gotten that you are obsessed with a coming violent revolution in the United States. I'm not.
The violence is already occurring. Only a stupid person can't see it is getting worse each year. You can't get it through your head...what violence is

US capitalism and its so-called "democracy" is a joke. Big business corporations and banks run this society, not the people, not "democracy". Trump railing against the swamp, therefore, attracts a lot of supporters and sympathizers. RFK Jr. condemning Biden's war in Ukraine attracts some support. The same old crap from the same old politicians has nothing to offer the American people.
You lost me here, friend. The last time I voted, the lines were long, filled with my neighbors, and I didn't see a single bank or big corporation standing in line to fill out a ballot. Those votes elected people who are supposed to follow the will of the voters in making decisions. Though I know not all of them do - they take the money and look the other way.

Donald Trump is a billionaire corporate American dream and a banker's best friend. Aren't these part of the swamp you say he is railing against?

He doesn't pay taxes like his common supporters and sympathizers. Instead, he uses their donations for his legal fees [over $40m], not for running for office costs. He hasn't put forth a 'platform for any election year' that indicates what he will actually do, just some vague platitudes about ending the war in Ukraine on day one and dismantling the legal system that prosecuted him on day two. His focus is razor sharp - look at how the politized/weaponized justice department is attacking you, my fellow citizens, but don't worry, I am standing between them and you. I'll save you - vote for me. With that kind of strategy, he will get the same results as the last time he ran for office - hopefully.

So? At least he asked. He is more qualified than any other candidate. But hey...let Republicans throw their weight behind a Fascist traitor.
What he "at least asked" Quayle was whether he had any way of doing Trump's bidding, when he should have known the answer was no. That he had to turn to someone as famously stupid as Quayle says a lot - and that he felt the need to ask anyone just shows he was looking for a way out. Quayle, for once in his life, was right: there was no way out.
They are all staying around with the hope that Republicans-at-large will come to their senses as indictments pile on Trump. There's every reason to believe that this could happen. Sans Trump, it becomes an open field for others.
For obvious reasons no one will ever say so out loud, but the fact that Trump is 77 years old, lives on fast food and is currently under tremendous pressure is undoubtedly on their minds as well.

Those mobs burned the capitol? Trying to overthrow the country? I must have missed it.

Keep defending him, shows your true colors.

Law and Order…right….
Pointing out that y'all are by far the greatest danger to infrastructure and rule of law is not a defense...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Establishment Republicans have put him up to this because he's got the gravitas to go after Trump for their "Never Trump" cabal that's been alive ever since he came down that escalator.

He has no intention of winning, he know's he can't – he's just another paper cut.

The corporations and banks use culture war issues to mobilize the public, but they also fund these politicians, and get them to do their bidding in power, although Trump is a loose cannon who would gladly sell them all out if it advanced him and his "brand". That is why they don't want Trump in power

He's a capitalist in tooth and claw, but he's only for himself, like a J.R. Ewing type. He doesn't care much about the big business capitalist class as a whole. Trump paints his attitude as an "outsider", and his anger and rage also play into that, the same sort of emotions that a lot of people feel across the country and across the political spectrum.

He doesn't pay taxes like his common supporters and sympathizers. Instead, he uses their donations for his legal fees [over $40m], not for running for office costs.
That's one of many big reasons why I'd never vote for him. LOL. There's a lot of daft people out there being ripped off horrendously.

It doesn't make logical sense, but that's the point. His supporters are attracted to his anger and rage, and the fact that he paints himself as an "outsider" in terms of not being a careerist Washington type politician. The establishment prosecuting him, and using state bodies to do this that have lost much credibility in the eyes of the American people, only increases Trump's appeal in the eyes of his supporters.

They are hoping that Pence lands some verbal blows on Trump during the Republican primaries, something which the media can then run with.

I never thought I would ever see “Pence” and “gravitas” in the same sentence.

Yeah, there was Pence out there egging bottom scrapers to hang Donald Trump . . . no, wait!
