Why would a girl who has no romantic interest in you, care what you think of her appearance?

There's a girl I've been talking to online for many years. She only likes me as a friend, but she knew I had a crush on her, despite not knowing what she looks like.

She finally felt comfortable enough to send a pic, and she said she never sent one before because she was afraid I wouldn't find her attractive. Even though she doesn't find me attractive and only likes me as a friend. So why would she care what I think of her appearance?

Could it be because even though she has no romantic interest in ME, she still finds it flattering that I do in HER?
