I accidentally spoiled it for my friend by status-updating "CROSBY YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD" on Facebook. He's probably pissed, but...Crosby. After being fairly unimpressive against Russia and most of the game today, he finally finds his balls. What a game. What a performance. It would have been so easy for them to get demoralised and give up after conceding that Parise goal, but no, these glorious men have come through in style.

I'm not Canadian, but as a Maple Leaf and a hockey fan, I'm bloody pleased.

Yeah, I can't help but be happy that Crosby got that goal as a Pens fan. And, yeah, bloody pleased :D

Aw shucks, I'm giving you both honourary Canadian citizenship! Welcome fellow Canucks :D

The US team played bloody hard and well, our rowdy little group gave them all a loud round of applause. (Once we were done cheering for the home town boys, of course).

Yeah, me t-oh.

Oh.

I've been conversing with a PENGUINS fan?

Oh god.

It's okay to hate on me. My team wins here and there.

Note: I was born a little outside Pittsburgh, and was thus genetically required to follow the Pens, Pirates, and Steelers.

I was touched by the Canadian dancers. But why do they give the medal winners in Canada broccoli? I mean I like broccoli but why? Must be a Canadian thing.

Oh, by the way, to answer your question about the "broccoli":

The floral contract was awarded to June Strandberg of Just Beginnings in Surrey, B.C. and Margitta Schulz of Margitta’s Flowers in North Vancouver.

Facts:

All of the flowers and greens were carefully hand selected and shaped into the bouquets by marginalized women, who may be recovering from addiction, leaving prison, exiting the sex trade, or who have been victims of violence, as well as by other women they train with who are changing careers to become florists.

This group of 22 women have learned the floral trade through the Just Beginnings Flowers Society, a non-profit social enterprise located in Surrey, BC. The flower shop and floral design school is run by Strandberg and also employs women with physical and mental challenges to prep the flowers for the designers.

Flowers and greenery with little fragrance and pollen count are generally preferred since they lessen the chance of allergic reactions. The longevity and durability of the bouquet and the hardiness of the greenery in wintery conditions for an extended period of time were also determining factors in the selection.

Packaging of the flowers is also minimal for delivery to the venues. Heavy duty cardboard cartons of biodegradable recyclable material are used rather than plastic. The cartons are lined with a biodegradable recyclable material that holds moisture. Each carton holds 10 Vancouver 2010 athlete bouquets individually protected with a biodegradable sleeve.

Oh, I triple hate you now.

It's okay. Someday the Leafs might be seen doing this (again):

(That's Sidney Crosby, for those what don't recognise him. You might have seen him yesterday scoring that crazy goal in OT.)

I don't know why you're so grumpy though. The Leafs have won a frikken ton of those Cups (like thirteen). Just not recently.

It's interesting that circa '67 was the last time the Leafs won the cup, and that is same year as the first expansion. Then again, it might not be as tough to win a cup in a league with six teams.

But aaaanyway, so they've had a dry period. And so it's been a 40 year long period. They can still win!

ETA: I don't actually follow the Pirates or the Steelers.

Yeah, well, we've got...Phil Kessel! And and...and...Tomas Kaberl-oh fuck it, I'm going to go sulk in the corner.

Here's one from "The Hip", just for you MS...

50 Mission Cap

(My all time fave Canuck band, BTW)

Bill Barilko disappeared that summer,
he was on a fishing trip
the last goal he ever scored won the leafs the cup
they didn't win another until 1962,
the year he was discovered...

oooo, creepy!

ETA: Here's the full song if you want to listen.

Ofcourse I'm a little bumbed that the Tragically Hip didn't preform, or Core Blund.

No, sorry to say I don't find Corner Gas as funny. I don't know why but just looks like a cheep Canadian made TV sit-com that I just can't relate to.

The one I found very non-funny was the woman that came out with the curling brushes in front of her. That bit was funny, but her monoluge was painful to watch.

Alright, bucky. Don't make me fly over to Ole Blighty and hunt you down.

Woman please, Neil Peart made me take up the drums. I'm just saying that there is often some surprise when people find out Rush is not one of those female-fronted bands, that's all

Alright. You are forgiven.

"YYZ" would've been an excellent song for this. Look at the title. It's perfect for a Canadian expo.

I don't watch it regularly - obviously, since I had no TV for two years - but if I'm surfing by and see it I'll stop. Sometimes very chuckly, other times not, but the bit with The Hip was quite funny.

Canadian TV...sigh. I should visit this in my Canada thread.
