A WINTER contest suggestion for andtheend?

I must say I’d been still trying to recover from the suggestion that it’s perfectly all right to change your story in the middle of a contest here on LITEROTICA. That votes cast for version one will simply carry over to version two or three or four… In fact I’ve been having nightmares about it.

Until last night that is. I was abed, tossing and turning while visions of demonic AHers madly editing stories danced in my head. And then a light appeared. Just a pin prick at first but then it exploded into a supernova that first smashed, then banished the AHers from my dreams. Replaced by godly finger that pointed towards me, bathing me in holy light and allowing me to understand god’s genius.

Every single day the contest was on susan could edit her contest story – in fact, under the guise of AN EDIT she would simply replace it with another one. One day an INCEEST story, the next a LOVING WIVES one, then a ROMANCE, and on and on. Completely different stories but with the same title. And the votes and views would continue to accumulate… Of course she’d have to explain her plan to the reader so they’d know to come back each day– perhaps an introduction that said something like this:

Dear reader, this story is my OFFICIAL entry into the LITEROTICA WINTER CONTEST. I hope you enjoy it and I ask that you take the few extra seconds required when you’re finished to vote for it. I’d certainly appreciate it. And feel free to send me your comments – I love to hear what readers think of my work.

I’d also like to let you know that the story you’re about to read will be completely changed tomorrow. What was SCI-FI today will be FETISH tomorrow. What will be EXHIBITIONIST next Wednesday will be MATURE by Thanksgiving Day.

Different characters, different plots, different endings, different sexual situations … and they’ll all be my take on various aspects of the winter season. So I’d suggest you FAVORITE the story (click the button below) so that you’ll be able to revisit it each day. It’s my gift to you – Susan’s 25 Erotic Nights of Xmas.

It would be win-win for everyone. The contest list finally unclogged without infringing on the dear girls right to inundate us with new stories. And imagine the number of COMMENTS such an enterprise could generate. And VOTES! There’d be a very good chance such a changeable story would make both the 1000+ VOTE CLUB as well as the 100+ COMMENT CLUB. It would be bound to win an A.I.R. AWARD.

And at the end of the contest she could reissue the 25 stories separately and garner all her SURVIVOR points! Which would be wonderful.

First, I see nothing wrong with editing a story after it has posted. If I learn of a serious oversight or error on a story, I will post an edited version, and that goes whether it is a contest entry or not.

Second, if I post a story named "John Fucks Mary" and it is an Incest story, and I come back the next day with an edited version of "John Fucks Mary" and it is a Mature story, etc., I probably won't attract any more reads than if I had left it an Incest story. I won't attract any more votes, because people can just vote once on a given story, including the edited version of it. There are ways of partially getting around this, but they would apply whether or not I kept reposting edited versions or not. I would probably get more comments, mostly telling me what a weirdo I am.

I wasn't going to submit one but I was working on my NaNoWriMo novel and found myself writing a back story for my main character about her first lover. That turned into a story about her going home for Christmas and running into him again. I guess I'm in. Just need to finish and edit before submitting.

Still goofing off, myself. I'm getting a bit of the writing bug back, but it's only taken enough hold to get me taking notes of ideas that pop in my head at work, which are so far exclusively for existing stories.

Still a lot of time left, but without even the seed of an idea yet, I doubt I'll be in this one.

A troll can bite, or kiss, any number of times, but they have to use a different computer and different ISP account each time.

Re #1 -Nor do I see anything wrong with editing a story. It’s not the editing – it’s the timing and the fact that the story is entered in a contest. Allowing entrants to continually change a story throughout the contest makes absolutely no sense. And to allow votes cast on different versions of a story to simply be added together and averaged makes even less sense.

Re #2 – You may be correct on the vote total question. Perhaps LAUREL could reset the vote mechanism on the story every day so that while you couldn’t vote for any version more than once you could vote on each different version.

Notwithstanding the voting question, I do believe that if Susie mounted a marketing campaign about this ‘original’ idea of a story that changed daily she just might multiply her reads five or tenfold. I also believe her comment numbers would skyrocket but I’m not so sure they’d mention your weirdness.

You’re also a relatively famous SURVIVALIST. Perhaps you’d like to try out the idea? 25 BOXLICKING NIGHTS…

I am probably about to ask a really Idiotic question and I do apologise profusely. My excuse is that I have been up since before 5am and its been a long day at work. Anyway my question.

Am I correct in thinking that the entry has to be a story not previously submitted to Lit?
