So apparently FIFA has abandoned their concerns about Argentina's "Falklands" banner after the semi final. Because in the final, as with the war in 1982, they didn't get any shots on target. Viva Espana

Not a smart comment. The Argentines sank several British ships in that conflict, killing 255 British servicemen, and sinking 6 British ships. Argentinian casualties were higher.

But in terms of FIFA - that stands fir Fix It For Argentina, as they get away with diabolical behaviour in world cups, leniency that would see players from other nations red-carded - unless American, where it would have been quashed. And as for their turning their backs on Spain receiving the cup, having first attacked them - what a shocking, shameful side…
 
It was pretty bad, I thought the 2010 final was similar but looking back the Netherlands, although aggressive had more of a go and tried to play.

I have a feeling hydration breaks could be here to stay 🥹

I get this UK newsletter about sport, and they had clips of the Argentinian thugs at the end, displaying their lack of class. Why didn't those guys get red cards or bans or something? They attacked an official, too!

I see they are "investigating." 🙄 Also, I was wrong. It wasn't an official they attacked - it was one of the Spanish coaches?

Also, their fucking pouty display when Spain hoisted the cup!! Grow the fuck up.

It was a joke, we Brots are well known for them. Probably a bit "left field" for Americans, you guys prefer slapstick humour, which has it's place.
 
If anyone wants to see what football is all about and how the game should be played, they need to watch the contest for third place between England and France. It put the beauty back into the beautiful game. It flowed; it was end-to-end, and there were no cards. No VAR disruptions and goals galore. When the game finished, the winners offered consolation to the losers and the losers congratulated the winners. That, my friends, is how the game should be played, and it was a far cry from that final.
Full marks to Spain; they did their best to play football. They were easily the best team in the tournament and were worthy winners. However, for my money, Saturday's game was the match of the tournament.

I am a Brit, and lived through the conflict. That was very much not a joke.
