Ehh, the Magi sound fun. What're they like? Different than the Traditions?

Erm.. well, technically, Magi is the the plural of Mage (well.. im pretty sure it is... i guess it could also be Mages... but Magi just sounds cooler )

are you familiar with the rules for Mage? because i will be following them fairly closely (as my character, the main antagonist, will be a mage)...

lol.. sorry, sorry... couldnt help myself...

Mages are humans, yes, and the Traditions are one of the two major groups of Mages. the traditions are what you probably think of when you picture a mage. they cast spells, enchant items, and summon spirits (although each of the Traditions do those things differently then the others). the Technocracy are the other major group of mages. instead of casting spells, they use science to produce similar effects. most of them dont even realize that they are mages. of course, reality conforms much better to this kind of magic, as the sleepers (normal humans) belive science can do just about anything. reality doesnt like mages casting spectacular spells right and left though... those kind of mages tend to dissapear very quickly...

Well the name is important! You need something you'll identify with and enough!

You could always pick something that plays off your own IRL name. I've done that before.

The Boy Trapped In A Girl's Body

Species: Human

Age: 19

Class: Mage

Spell Abilities: Prime 3, Forces 2, Spirit 2, Life 2, Entropy 2
(a bit strong apparently, but should work okay with this group)

Disadvantages: Virtuous (attacked by guilt when fails to help people, tries to maintain spiritual purity... as I recall from reading a Vampire accessory I downloaded, a major disadvantage in this world ^_^), Split Personality (she's craaazy)

Advantages: She's smart, insightful, and cute. Also, her high spell levels -- which, if we were playing the real game, could be bought with her high-level disadvantages.

DESCRIPTION:

Devin is a special girl, uh, boy, uh, person.

The mysteries of her split personality are indecipherable. All that is known is that both sides of her call themselves Devin, and that they tend to both be active at the exact same time. Thus, rather than normal mental insanity, where the personality switches back and forth at random, Devin is often having discussions within her own head.

It may be that Devin is possessed by a spirit, or that Devin is just a very strange character. Whatever the case, the girl-Devin is a sweet, virtuous girl who uses her magic to help people, and the boy-Devin is a kind yet depressingly nihilistic guy, who uses his magic to desperately attempt to find why the world is worth living in, trying to create meaning.

Thus, girl-Devin naturally has the powers of Life and Spirit, but under boy-Devin's urgings, has used their combined abilities to find their talents in the powers of Prime, Forces, and Entropy, in order to better understand the cosmos. Next on their list is Time, but they don't seem to be having much luck in their studies.

Devin's parents are wealthy enough to keep Devin safe from casual suspicious, but not wealthy enough to attract undue attention to their strange daughter. However, they have finally decided that the sanitarium is the best place for their poor daughter to live out her days.

With the urge to help the world of girl-Devin and the urge to understand the world of boy-Devin, they rush out and escape into the darkness, hoping to use their talents for good...

...or find help before something finds them first...

So expect strange things from Devin; try to insult her, she might start to cry and then suddenly follow up with a left cross.

Yeah, she's wacky. But she's a lot of fun.

Name: Lucian

Age: 18

Description: Tall and slim, with muscles honed by many years of training. He keeps his long black hair tied back, although it still manages to fall over his face, obscuring his violet eyes. He is usually seen dressed in white, and always wears the bracers given to him by his masters.

At a very young age, Lucian was taken through the Gauntlet, to a realm called the Horizon, to train with the last living Archmages of the Order of Hermes. He showed great promise in the magical arts, especially in the spheres of Time and Correspondence. As he approached his 18th birthday, his masters bestowed upon him the Infinity Rod, and the twin bracers proclaiming him Master of both Time and Space, and sent him back through the Gauntlet on a mission. He returned to a world completely different that the one he was accustomed to. Used to a reality he could easily bend to his will, he has found out that is not the case on earth, where the force of belief of billions of Sleepers holds reality far more stable. He struggles to regain the power he formally enjoyed, in order to fulfill his mission. He is confident in his power, but awkward when dealing with people, as he has not had the opportunity to interact with many people during his lifetime.
