World Trade Center-Plane Crash

I just read through this thread, it brought back so many memories of that day for me.

Today I weep for the world...and pray for all those lost souls...and most important...I pray for peace.

In Rememberance...

We will never forget or forgive the vile people that started this.
But we will finish it....to the last terrorist breathing.

WTC/9-11-2001 :rose: :rose:

And to the remains found Monday....

The recent discovery of human bones and tissue at a building near the site could change the total death figure as officials seek to match DNA from the remains to one or more of the 2,792 attack victims.

So far, the remains of about 1,520 people have been identified, most by DNA, and 1,230 others were confirmed dead by the courts because families submitted proof to a judge that the victim was at the trade center or on one of the hijacked planes.

Workers helping repair the 25-story landmark located about a block from where the south tower stood found the latest set of remains Monday, believed to be from a person or people who died in the attack.

The jetliner crashes and collapses of the 110-story towers blew debris and human remains throughout the area. Part of a stairwell from the south tower landed on the roof of the same building where remains were found. A woman's pelvic bone was found there a year ago.

You know, it was a little easier this year to get through 9/11. I was SO busy at work, it left little time to think about it. There were extra flags out in a few places today for remembrance, but it didn't seem like the overpowering emphasis as on 9/11/02, the first anniversary.

Maybe we will reach a point where 9/11 is remembered much like D-Day, etc. It sure didn't seem like that would ever happen though on 9/11/01.

3 years later and this is still a fascinating, compelling read.

Thanks for finding and bumping this thread, Cheyenne, so we can share in the memories, painful as they are.

I have never been frozen before. I sat here watching "Today" and watched the second plane explode. Now, the Pentagon has experienced an explosion of sorts. I've seen reports on the 6:00 news, where terrorism and death is recorded, but that's always OTHER COUNTRIES.
I feel ill.

Three years later. Wow. I re-read the entire thread. I remember sitting at my computer, not really knowing anyone at Lit very well, but feeling some sense of connection as I posted and watched TV for hours that day.

RIP :rose:

RIP :rose:

You took the words right out of my mouth.

This morning I was thinking about the unspeakable horror the victims must have felt and the grief their families had to endure. I can't imagine having to cope with losing a loved one that way.

I had just gotten out of my Algebra class and was headed to Western Civ when the teacher told us all to go back home, to go be with our families and watch the story unfold, watch the news coverage - because history was in progress. I took out my cell phone and immediately called my mother. I asked if she heard, and she had, and I simply told her I loved her. In light of the circumstances, I decided to seize the opportunity that a lot of people who died that day would have given anything for.

Since that day, as simplistic as it may sound, I never forget to say goodbye and "I love you", no matter where I'm going, for how long, or why.

The third anniversary is here. And we remember.

I was moved this morning by both President Bush's radio message and Senator Kerry's similar address regarding their thoughts on the third anniversary of the loss we all suffered.

This might be a good day for us to express thoughts of unity.

I'm seriously thinking about printing this thread out.

I just re-read it.. do you guys realize this is like a History book? Tn Vixen started this the minute the first plane hit and it continued through everything that happened that day.

You're welcome.

Seeing the thread brings back a lot of the emotions from that day. I think it will be my way of remembering 9/11 each year for as long as I'm at Lit.

It IS a history book, freaky. :rose:

"Well boys, we've got three engines out, we've got more holes in us than a horse trader's mule, the radio is gone and we're leaking fuel and if we was flying any lower why we'd need sleigh bells on this thing... but we've got one thing on those Rooskies. At this height why they might harpoon us but they dang sure ain't gonna spot us on no radar screen!"
