Writers, do your stories come from

For stories and poetry I get writing triggers from everywhere ..... .

Previously when people have read *some* of my writing they have said.... "You did that!" I reply, "Does Stephen King go out and torture and murder to set a plot?" That takes them off key if the story is fact or fiction
