Name: X-23 / Laura Kinney
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Caucasian

Abilities: X-23 possesses the ability to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of her cellular structure at a superhuman rate, which varies in direct proportion with the severity of the damage she suffers. Her natural healing affords her virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs, as well as an enhanced resistance to diseases and the fatigue poisons generated by bodily activity.

She also possesses acute senses, allowing her to see and hear things at an extended distance. She is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if that person or object is hidden, and can use these enhanced senses to track any creature with an impressive degree of success.

X-23's skeleton includes two retractable bone claws in each arm and one in each foot that she can extend and retract at will.

Due to her extensive training from birth, X-23 is a master of multiple forms of martial arts and is an expert in assassination techniques.

Physical Appearance: X-23 stands 5’6” tall and weighs 147 lbs. Straight raven colored hair reaches to the bend of her waist; vivid green eyes are deceptively bright, masking a history of pain and loneliness. She is athletically trim, her body density attributed entirely to a strenuously maintained muscle structure. Her ample chest and wide hips make for a stunning hourglass figure.

Personality: X-23 is conversationally reserved. Her upbringing has left her unfamiliar with a lot of faucets of humanity: friendship, love…even the concept of self-worth. But ever of an intelligent mind, she actively studies those around her and tries to adapt (or perhaps mimic). Once considered mute, she’s made great progress… though most would still describe her as cold, or at least distant. She has a tendency to speak monotonously with perfect grammar and pronunciation.

History: X-23 understands very little about herself.

She was raised in a laboratory, trained from birth to be a great assassin. She knows not her origins, though she has always suspected that she was…in some way, unnatural. The notion was proven correct in her childhood. While her handlers refused to answer her questions, used a series of punishments to dissuade her from further classified inquiries… She still managed to learn that her name, X-23, was nothing more than a project moniker. She was the twenty-third attempt! …Apparently people (real ones) weren’t lovingly named with numerical values.

She wasn’t given a name name until the day that she escaped. From her “mother”, as the woman lay bleeding to death from wounds sustained at X-23’s hand.

Laura.

X-23 wasn’t certain how to feel about the name but had little choice but to use it as she attempted to get by in the world outside of the laboratory. She hid what she was and took the last name of Kinney, that of the woman who had carried X-23 in her womb. While she hadn’t purposely murdered her “mother” – having been exposed to her trigger scent, which causes the young woman to enter an uncontrollable berserker rage – hearing/speaking the other woman’s last name was always unsettling and laden with guilt. Still. It seemed of some importance to not forget the one person to which she had almost shared a connection.

Much as she tried, though… Laura Kinney couldn't pass for normal. She lacked for a mission. No one had explained surviving under the terms of reality; life was supposed to be a stream of contracts, those which told her exactly what to do. This new found freedom was…daunting.

Lost and confused… Laura allowed herself to be taken in by a strange man. He claimed to love her. And he treated her well…at first. When everything shifted – Laura didn’t know any better than to stay. Life was a series of being used and knocked around, it seemed; and for awhile: there just wasn’t any point in fighting back. X-23 wouldn’t admit how long she remained under the pimp’s influence and generally tried to forget the depravity and abuse of that portion of her history. But what she’d never forget… was the satisfaction of not just murdering Zebra Daddy, but in the mutilation that caused in his death.

It had been anything but meticulous. A blind fury of impaling blows and a series of dual and singular slashing marks covered the entirety of the man’s body. A pair of his thugs accompanied the corpse as it was found; though they retained intact abdomens, suffering far more precisely fatal wounds. The savageness of the attack caused a short-lived local hysteria (though no one could quite agree if it was the action of a satanic cult or of a single psychotic killer). In the end, though: it was not the authorities that apprehended the guilty party. Instead, the young woman was found by Emma Frost, who helped to cover X-23's tracks, so to speak. As to if anyone else was ever formally accused or charged of the crime(s): the murderer was not aware or even concerned.

Yayyy! Welcome "AnyOtherName"! Another gal that's been on my 'radar' for a bit. So I'm especially thankful for her presence*checks her character* -- as rabid or honey sweetened as it may play out -- in the roleplay! *nudge* Anyway. Spectacular, and added. Thank you!

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed Misfits! I miss that thread. Makes me want to start another original hero/villain comic styled group story, but... It can be quite a demanding endeavour! And if I've learned anything: it's that I'm just horrible with responsibility!

Well, Teen Justice League is looking for writers if you want to take a look there. Links are in my signature. No pressure. I'm sure you've got limited time, like the rest of us. I do accept original characters, FYI.

I do okay with responsibility, unless RL gets in the way. The villains I was going to use for X-men: ABNW were the Hellfire club and Emma Frost's Mass Academy. But RL interrupted. I'm glad Lach kept it alive.

Do we want to wait for Logan? He won't be posting again until the 14th. However, I imagine Logan would have something to say here.

I was working on the idea that they opened for a dinner-time/post-dinner sort of crowd with special performers during the late night and "after-hours" crowd, but I'm not sure why that thought had entered my mind. Glad it seems to be working out.

Just to let people know....after I do my X-23 post after work tonight. My next priority will be Gambit, which....is going to give the story a little 'nudge' of sorts. So "Remec", "Felix80", and "DeathsKnight"(though maybe not fair since you aren't back yet....of course this depends on WHEN I actually get to post for the character as well!) -- make those final posts, before things kick it up a notch!

So. Rather than being 'elusive' as I did in my post last night here. I'd be more direct. Two days ago(Monday), my employment status changed from FULL-TIME....to NO-TIME!

So...this has caused me to 'switch gears' *SLIGHTLY*(?) irl, as I'm firing applications online as much as possible, to rectify the situation.

Sucks because, in a way. *THIS* roleplay is almost...heh.....more important to me, in an artistic way, than any.....*ahem*....'nonsense' in real life. But anyway. Now you guys know.

So bare with me please. I feel like it took me a good bit to JUST rev this bad boy of an engine up again, and then to have something like this happen---! It's quite disconcerting to say the least! Obviously I'm not throwing in any towel, nor should anyone consider this as 'done' or 'quit' or anything.

Quite possibly, I *MAY* have some good free time if anything coming up because of what has transpired(?)...heh. It's just my head's a lil' a mess because of the stress of the situation. So I have to cool myself down, and/or try to work harder to compartmentalize.

Anyhow. Wanted to give you guys a heads up. And letcha know what's going on. So please give me a lil' more lee way...heh...than USUAL, 'kay? Thanks gang

Well I'm kinda back

Heh. Yeah man, I was in the midst of filling out ANOTHER application. And I got the 'beep' from my phone -- email notification y'see! I needed that. Some Wolvie in my life. Thanks "DeathsKnight".

What's more. I wrote a LITTLE some last night. Nothing terrifically stupendous. But it was a start, to the 'sketchy plot - theme' I had scribbled out. So at least it's something. Slow time coming.....but I like progress!

I think I like you guys and this roleplay more though. Just sayin'. Happy Friday. Can't we get this damnable week over with all ready?? *phewww*

Definitely feel blessed, at least with this roleplay. To have all of you talented writers in here. (and I still -- STILL -- have "someone" a'waitin' to join in..........damn that RL nonsense, huh???*grrr*)

I think being that I haven't gotten to write since the other night. And I'm still anticipating "hearing back" from people on my IRL situation. It's still a good time STORY WISE, to allow the exchange take place between the following sets of characters:

Jean Grey + X-23
Wolverine + War + Multiple Man

And not that "I" am keeping track or anything -- *hehe* -- but I believe Mister Guthrie still has to make a new 'appearance', right?

Gotcha. Yeah, I was sort of waiting to see if you had anything to respond to Betsy with before doing anything with Sam. He's planning on using some of his spelunking and mining training to find a hiding place.

Cleared our inactive(s). Updated the roster and character location breakdown sections(keep in mind, as it appears: A + B = Europe. C + D = NYC).

Got some good progress on writing as well. Still a bit to go, but I'll take it!

"Remec" -- Maybe it was my fault, for 'waiting' on you as well. Normally when I post for the 'locations'(IE, the Brazen Fox location or the Russian location, etc.), I will wait for a full round of posts from everyone. So I can take into account character responses before interjecting. That's funny that you were waiting on me though (your character, Cannonball, was the FIRST one I wrote for when I re-launched the roleplay though...haha).

I'll ALWAYS have "something" to respond to someone. It's all about the timing of course. Like I said, the 'full round' of posting. Sorry for the lack of communication in that respect! But great post, from my FAVORITE...multiplying - southerner! *grin*
