X-Men A New

Megan

"I guess we have no choice then... Who ever this Magnet is, he's trouble... We need to help Nomad." My head raised now, the shock from the psi-intrusion was over. "Lets go."

I hesitated not liking the suggestion at all, the last thing I wanted to do was go up against Magneto. Obviously, we'd lose. He had always been more powerful... things wouldn't have changed. There were only 3 of us, Megan new to her powers, and Sabretooth oddlly passive, but willing to fight... I shook my head behind them.

"We'll be killed or captured Sabre, you know that."

I glance at Megan feeling guilty,

"The X-men will help, they have a chance. We do not."

She still also felt the old loyalty returning, now that Magneto had resurfaced, she didn't want to make an enemy of her only allies in the mutant kingdom.

Sabretooth

"I don't work for Magneto anymore, Raven." Victor said darkly, "Not for a long time now. Taking him by ourselves would be suicide yes, but he can't afford to alienate the Underground, and they are much closer to me than him. Remember Raven,in Magneto's world order, there would be no place for Megan if she wasn't an alpha. He only wants to save the strong."

"Megan, can you get the X-Men to come? I don't know if any of them heard the distress call." Handing a cell phone over to Megan he began bulling a way through the crowded mall, leaving a path a mack truck could follow. "Come on ladies, we don't have any time to lose."

Raven stood still for a moment,

"He would save our daughter.... "

She half new that might not be so,

"We can make her strong... she is strong, look at us. She has to be..."

But Sabretooth ignored her, pushing his way forcefully through the crowd, shoving people out of the way, breaking stands... she shook her head and followed at a distance still unsure.

Megan

I followed, practically on my fathers heels, quickly dialing the phone number.

"Oh God," I thought "Please let this be the right number..." I dialed the last didget, and pressed send, placing the phone to my ear. I half heared the "hey"'s and the "watch it"'s as I listened to the ringing....

Sabretooth

Victor somehow managed to keep his cool on the way out. People milling about like idiots always annoyed him and when he was in a hurry it was infuriating. After a short time people started getting out of the way of theor own accord, they heard a vicious growl emanating from his direction and they just split.

In the parking lot he bounded straight for his car and started it as Megan and Raven caught up.

"Which way, Megan? Did you get a hold of anyone?" he growled as he peeled out.

Megan

It was the back seat for her this time, and she was looking all too mad as she turned off the phone.

"The machiene kicked on..." was her reply. "I guess it's just us then... Who is this.... Magneto person anyway... is he a mutant too?"

Sabretooth

"You could say that, Megan. Magneto is a lot of bad news in a fetching red and purple outfit. As his name evidences he has magnetic powers. He's one of the most powerful mutants on the face of the planet as well. If he has your friend it is not for any nice chat. He'll attempt to brainwash him and failing that, he'll kill him. I know, I was with him for years." Victor sighed.

"Now is as good a time as any to tell you some things Megan, rose-colored glasses of me won't do you any good. I started out with Magneto because I looked up to his ideals and I admired his power. He was a visionary, one with the might to make his vision come about I thought. I did a lot of horrible things in his name. After a time I saw how he used people, mutants and norms alike and threw them away. I realized thenit was just a matter of time before my usefulness was at an end." Sabretooth sighed gruffly, "Since I left him, I have certainly been no angel of mercy though. Magneto's vision will never come to light because he makesit for selfish purposes. His reasoning is sound though. Xavier's dream, while nice, is just a dream. I believe that sooner or later then non-mutants will rise up and try to exterminate or enslave mutant-kind. Take Genoa for example, they enslaved their mutants long ago, yet America still gave them favored trading status and named them as an ally."

"What does that say? That says implicit approval. America and other powers did not protest Genoa's treatment of mutants because they agreed with it. Senator Roberts tries to push through bills every session of congress that limit mutant rights. And he keeps being reelected. There is peace now, Megan, but soon that peace will erupt in a bloodbath the likes of which has never been seen on our earth. Cities, armies, nations WILL fall. I plan to be on the victorious side inthe conflict. I plan for the mutants to win." he paused a moment to let her digest all this.

"What I don't do anymore is actively incite the humans. In all truth time is on the mutant's side. More and more of us are born or discovered every day. The human genetic pool itself is shifting dramatically towards the so-called 'X factor' that gives us our abilities. When there is a war, Megan, it will be the humans starting it. Unless Magneto's idiocy is allowed to continue. Try your friends again, I'll take us to the Underground just in case. We can get reinforcements there."

Megan

As she sat in that backseat, listening to her father go on, she honestly had nothing to say.

She picked up te phone and dialed again as they moved on down the road.

Captured

Toad grunted at the sharp jab but otherwise he kept his grip on the young man. "Hold still!!" He half growled half snorted at him, shoving him hard back into the seat. His eyes shifted momentarily to Magneto awaiting instructions.

Sabretooth

Cornering was a bitch, but then again this was a sedan, no combat vehicle. They'd be there soon enough anyways, just concentrate on not breaking traffic laws too much.

OOC: Sorry guys had to replace a lot of stuff in our formally defunct computer.

Megan

She sat in the backseat, thankful that she always buckles up.

"Umm... Can I ask where you learned to drive like this?"

Sabretooth

"School of Hard Knocks, Megan, I don't even have a license." Victor almost grinned into the rearview mirror, "I mean, hell, who'd license me?"

"It will only be a few minutes until we get to where we're going." he said, reaching with one hand and almost absently shredding the x-men shirt he was wearing into tatters, "It would probably be best not to mention the X-men or where you go to school when we get there. Some of these friends of mine are a bit touchy."

Megan

She began to fidget in the backseat as he spoke.

"Umm.. Are we going to that..... Brotherhood place, thing?"

Raven sat silently in the passangers side seat, not even flinching as they barely missed a head on collision with a 18-wheeler. Her mind however was racing about as fast as the sedan. She really didn't want to take on Magneto. She could stay in this foreign form... but he would know. Besides, she didn't condemn all that he did, she saw the neccesity in certain situations. True, due to that whole Nazi thing he tended to take it a bit too far... but not that badly, or that often. In her opinion. She sighed deeply at the mention of the brotherhood... she didn't want to face this now.

Sabretooth

"It's not the Brotherhood." Victor said uneasily, "Well, not exactly anyway. Just let me do the talking and we'll be alright."

He drove and hoped it was true.

Megan

I slouched back now, and looked out the window as houses, shops and people bacame a blur around us. The silence was uneasy. I began to fidget in the seat before I blured out with my question. It was something I never felt I could ask my adoptive family... It just seemed right to ask my real parents though..

"Why do they hate us....?"

The question pierced through the fog in her mind, and she found herself turning back. Megan was fiddling with something and staring uncertainly out the window.

Raven pursed her lips for a moment then leaned forward putting a hand on hers stilling the motion.

"They're frightened of us. We are more powerful, we're the new breed. We're the new evolution, they don't like that... they're used to being the top species... completely stable and happy. Nothing could change that. But then we came along, we shook the foundation of that belief. They're going extinct, nature has created another. They aren't the latest and greatest... and they hate us for it.

Megan

"Their not all like that though.... Not from what I've seen.... It's just a few stupid ones..... It's not like we're going to kill them all, isn't it?"

Sabretooth

*bump* OOC: Just post as to if you are still interested, I'm afraid this fell off my radar for a bit...

"Their not all like that though.... Not from what I've seen.... It's just a few stupid ones..... It's not like we're going to kill them all, isn't it?"

She paused for a moment,

"All that I've known, but there are those like your parents. But they don't act, they do nothing... those in control... those with power are the ones who hate us. They are who we're fighting against. The one's who would persecute us... lock us up, turn our friends,... and family against us."

Her gaze continued out towards the scenery passing by as a thousand painful memories fought to take hold but she held firm and stared blankly forward.

Megan

A sigh came out, long slow and deep.
"This world is no place for people like us.... The "normal" humans try to pit us against one another while we try to save them. And even if we do suceed in saving them, they try and kill us. I heard, a while ago, that congress was trying to pass a "Mutant Regestration bill". What if something like that does happen? There are mutants out there who don't want to admit that they are mutants, and they will be forced to come out into the open. This whole world is going downhill, and sooner or later, someone is going to crack and try to wipe us all out."

Her head bent down, as she cloesed her eyes, her mind taken up in thought, what if all of this really did happen? What would it mean to the world...?
