X-Men: Unleashed!

Bastard

I saw her in the sewers, sitting on the stone floor wth her legs drawn up against her chest. I'd entered closer to town than before, and had a decent walk until I reached the others. I saw her as I reached what I guessed was the halfway point. She looked familiar, and I could tell by the ash and dirt on her clothes that she'd been at the academy.
"You alright?" I asked.
She started at the sound of my voice, then tightened her expression and stared at me as if I intended her harm.
"i'm not here to hurt you...I just wanted to know if you were alright."
She didn't seem to hear me, but stared still. I was about to repeat myself when she nodded almost frantically, her face appearing scared in the pale lighting that was down here, appearing like emergency lighting, small blue rectangled tucked away in corners here and there along the tunnel. SHe looked familiar...like someone I'd seen here and there but never really noted...well, consciously noted anyway, which surprised me, as she was quite a beauty.
Must have seen her around the mansion, I thought. It made sense. She was ovbviosly a student, having been at the fire and winding up down here, it was the only explanation.
"C'mon," I said, offering her my free hand. "Some of us have gathered up ahead. You're not alone in this."
I tried to sound comforting, but the truth was, I felt alone in this.
SHe took it, but warily, and as we walked, she stayed her distance and kept her arms crossed over her chest and her head low.
"I'm Kane, by the way, Kane Posh, but everybody calls me Bastard. You?"
SHe was quiet for a moment, then in a soft voice, she said, "Dahlia Silverstedt...but um...Divine is what they called me at...the school."

After flying through the tunnels at tremendous speed, I thanked God that I saw the healer before coming down here. My body was once again at 100% and I was ready to rejoin my fellow students. The only problem is I can't find them in these damn sewers. Stopping I decided to rely on the trick I used to find the Institute in the first place.

All people have a kenetic field around them, but mutants or energy wielders in particular have a incredible fast field around their body. Using my influence over kenetic fields I began to use those perculiar energy fields to track down my teamates.

After about 30 minutes of flying through the sewers at nearly 70 mph I managed to finally find an energy signal. Slowing down I began to float slowly to BC. He was with some girl and according to her energy signature she was a mutant. With power radiating from my body I asked Bastard Child "BC where is the others"

Bastard

The voice seemed to come from nowhere. I started, looking around. When I found him, I was instantly pissed.
"What the Fuck are you doing coming up behind me like that?" I spat, wanting to hit the man, but knowing it wasn't the right thing to do, especially considering the facts: He was in the sewer and he knew my name. That meant he was a student, and it also meant he was a mutant. Which meant that even if we weren't on "the same side"--and that argument had little weight as far as I was concerned--perhaps tangling with him wouldn't be the best thing to do.
I stepped backward, composing myself, glancing back to see that, under the sudden tension, I held my hand back and curled the fingers upward, as i was learning to do when I wanted to make fire. In the sewers, that seemed a bad idea. We would be the victims of a second mutant barbeque, right here in the sewers.
I lowered my hand, not wanting to risk a spark.
I glanced to the girl, who smiled slightly, which normally would have made me more pissed, but meeting eyes with her, I found myself strangely calm. In fact, I even had to fight the ghost of a smile from my lips.
"They're up ahead," I answered him, noticing it was Duplaix then. "C'mon, we're headed that way now."

Myst

He was fast...way too fast for me to easily keep up, and that was bad. I did my best though, moving amid the buildings and watching as he went, trying to keep track of him as I dodged street lamps and buildings and marquis' alike.
As he was leaving the computer lab, i was right behind him, thinking, how hard could it be to keep up with some guy who swings around on little pieces of webbing? It only made sense that someone who could fly could keep up. Apparently, I should have pacticed flying in the city instead of around the mansion grounds. The buildings and the little distractions I hadn't anticipated (honking horns and people shouting, lights turning on and off) were just enough to make the experience he had an advantage I couldn't quite overcome. I did manage to stay within view of him. He'd swing out of sight, then i'd round a bend to see him swinging out of sight again.
Had he been able to see me, I might have been in much more trouble. Invisibility has it's advantages, as you might have guessed already. I was thinking back on those advantages, on sneaking into the shower room while Cyclops was...well, taking care of himself (stress-reduction techniques, I'm sure), when Spiderman finally lost me, disappearing between two buildings and not being there when i made the turn. Adrenalyn was going to be pissed, I was sure, but there was nothing I could do.
Besides, she'd said "Keep tabs on him until morning." And it was damn near morning right now.
I found a rooftop to rest on and waited for her to contact me again.

I sat there in silence, the minutes ticked by slowly. and I counted damn near everysecond away. No one spoke, though there was the occasional shuffling. I stayed crouched. Allowing nothing more than my cowboy boots to touch the sewer floors, arms crossed over knees. I had fallen asleep for a short time, but when I heard a cough I awoke. This place was strange to me and I didn't like it one bit. I was a little on edge, just waiting to see or hear something coming around one of the corners. Yet nothing came. " What are we doing just standing around here? There has got to be something we can do. I'm getting bored.. "

Razorback cracked his knuckles in anticipation as he countinued to wait for the mutants Cedric spoke of earlier. He wasn't a student at Xaviers for a long time but he understood the man's dream and felt just as passionate about it as a veteran. With anti-mutant sentiments running high enough, a group of bullies wouldn't help the situation any.

Then it happened, the lights in Southtown blinked on and off as smoke began to fill the room. Razorback squinted and saw to rather large shadows in the tunnels. "Leave your tribute in front of the tunnel and we'll let you scumbags live for another few months." Anthony stepped forward in defiance, "Why don't you come and get it from me!" "Who is this newcomer who fears our mutant powers?" "I'm Anthony Carbone, a mutant, and the guy who is going to send you packing if you two come down here."
Without a warning a group of lights illuminated the room. Again the homeless shuddered. Anthony stood in the same spot, unimpressed, "Nice light show. I guess if your not going to come down here, I'm coming up there!" With that he leapt up to the tunnel, dodging various blasts of light unti he realized, that was all they were, lights.

The menacing shadows were made possible by two equalling menacing cardboard cut-outs. Anthony took the cutouts and ripped them in half before throwing them to sewer below. Behind the lights were a series of mirrors and a flashlight, which Anthony pocketed thinking they might be useful one day. "It seems your mutant threat was nothing more than a farce, it seems someone around here is tring to extort their own." A pair of footsteps in the pipes grabbed his attention, "And i'm going to find out who"

Bastard

We reached the others in only a few minutes. They were mostly just waiting, not sure what else to do, but I guess that went with the situation. I walked over to the Cowboy and handed him a couple of the sandwiches I'd bought.
"Here," I said. "Not the best, but it should be good enough. Hope no one's allergic to roast beef..."
I walked around, giving each of the people there two, then set the bag on the floor. The man at the counter had stared at me wide-eyed when I'd asked for so many, but now it looked as though I might not have gotten enough, what with us being two people heavy.
"I found this girl in the sewers, says her nae in Divine. Duplaix managed to find us," I explained. "SO I guess that makes us two heavy..."

"be more than willing to give one of my sandwhiches up...Dont want no one being hungry. " I flipped one of the sandwhiches into my right hand tossing it side ways to Bastard.. It was a good throw, with a nice catch to follow.

"Thanks for goin out there.. " A tip of the cowboy hat given before I unwarpped the sandwhich left in hand.. sticking the wrapper into my pocket. Go figure, even in a sewer I didn't liter.. eyes closed with the first bite. chewing and then swallowing he nodded to the two new arrivals.

"Evenin yall... welcome to our humble abode.. Go ahead and hunker down if ya've got a mind to.. Friends call me Cowboy.. " I gave a nod to them as well hands lifting to take hold the edge of the brim. tipping it down slightly and with that I took another bite of my sandwhich

Upon seeing the others alive and well, I was overjoyed but then upon meeting the one I called Cowboy I was wary. After all this is the guy, everyone said caused the hell that Institute had become.

I continued to float not wanting to ruin my nice Lugz boots in this dirty ass sewer. Folding my arms over my chest I realized that I should be a little annoyed they picked this place over my penthouse but to each thier own. After watching them eat, I began to get bored awaiting something to do. I was just about to lose it when my cell phone rang. It was the detective I hired up top, Sincerly Dillon. Excusing myself and floating farther down the tunnel I answers and was filled in on what was found "Several bodies with bullet holes indication that police must have shot several mutants and tossed them back into the fire to hide the evidence and most important the explosion at the mansion was not just any fire. It was an inside job.

Heading back to the other with those thoughts floating my mind I looked at my companions again but this time it seemed different. It seems that anyone of them could be the one who destroyed the mansion.

OOC: Hey anyone going topside soon?

Razorback followed the footsteps until he came to a huge, sewer filled with water and plenty of dank pipes. "Hello? Wannabes? You around I've got an ass kicking for you!" Anthony heard the squeaky noise of a water pipe being released, "Oh shit." Suddenly a huge wave of water began to shoot from a collection of pipes. "God damn! They're trying to flood Southtown!"

Meanwhile, flight 329 from Detroit touched down at JFK. Alica took a swig from her water bottle as she carried her bag to the taxi pick-up area. As she got into a cab, she thought to herself how ironic it was, the one place she tried to avoid all her life was where she was going to find her sister. "Cabbie can you please take me to the Xavier Institue in Westchester?"

I must have dozed off after eating, but I wasn't sure. I was laying on the ground, damp and a little cold, but otherwise fairly comfortable. I got up and stretched, remembering how close to morning it had been when I'd gotten back in the sewers again, and being certain the city was alive now. Most of us could move among the humans and not be noticed, given the diversity of the city. The rest could figure their own way. I looked over my companions, wondering what would happen to them all. They wanted revenge, so I guessed their futures weren't looking all that good just then.
"Well," I began. "I'm not sure what you all are up to, but I think it's about time..."
I trailed off, hearing the sound in the distance...running water? NO! Rushing water!
"Anyone else hear that?" I asked. I looked to the Cowboy...he had a habit of speaking up...but didn't wait for an answer.
"I hear running water," I explained, "Hard running water...and if it's intended for us..."
I trailed off, thinking.
"Let's get the fuck out of here!"

OOC: I know it isn't intended for them, but we need out of the sewers already...three pages of "what do we do next?" conversation is going to kill this one...
Let's get a little better interaction going on now...

Everyone loved a smart ass.. well almost everyone, and I seemed to be one at the worst possible times In one of those fake John Wayne voices I spoke "Well Everyone mount yer dingys and get ready for a wave.. "

Bad joke.. I admit.. but with Bastards words everyone seemed to be on their feet... each of them had that dumb founded look on their face.. Each wondering.. or so it looked, where the water was coming from and which way to go.. So I started off, lifting from the ground just slightlyand began away from the direction I believed the water to be coming from. The sewer tunnel rounded a bin nbot far up... If I remember right I had seen a ladder leading up around there, when I carried static. " WHAT ARE YALL WAITIN FER? LIGHT A SHUCK LETS MOVE IT "

I began to push those ahead of me toward the ladder I had remember... Bastard was always one of the top students.. I trusted he would have brains enough to follow. So far we seemed the most capable. From what I knew of him from school. he was definatly someone I would want to have my back in a fight. Looking to him once more I gave a nod " Lets get this wagon on the roll "

OOC: Actually I was hoping the pipes would get this things moving.

Razorback managed to navigate the maze of pipes to get back to Southtown. Everyone had apparently left, must have heard the water coming. Anthony was hoping he could fine someone to guide him back to the train station but he would have to figure it out on his own.

As Razorback rushed toward another pipe the water began to crash through the room, destroying the settlements the bums had constructed. "Fuck!!" Anthony brought his hands to his mout as he ran through the piepes, " Can anyone hear me?!?"

Bastard

I stopped before the ladder, certain I'd heard something...A voice?
It sounded like one...someone shouting from some other part of the sewer.
"I think...Did anyone else hear that?" i asked.
I didn't wait for an answer. I decided it must have come crom the direction of the city...would anyone be down here, they'd be in that direction...only made sense...
I headed off at a sprint, noticing as I went that the sound of the rushing water was getting nearer as well.
"Hello? Is anyone down here?" I shouted back, hoping that whoever had yelled would return my call and lead me to them.

Anthony ran through the maze of pipes, trying to find a way out of the sewer. The water was at his ankles at this point. "Hello? Is anyone down here?" Finally an answer! "Yes just keep talking I'll follow the sound of your voice! Sing a song or something!!"

Aenas Duplaix in "Name that Tune:"

With the water incoming I was hardly worried. After all if I really had to, I could use my will over kenetic energy to use the waters movement to power up a crude force field around myself. Watching the other scurry up the ladder I took my time making sure I was gonna be the last one up. Plus who needs a ladder when you can fly.

I was just about to take off when BC took off the other way. With him like the rest of us suspect in this whole murder case I decided it was safer for me to keep an eye on him so flying about one pace behind him I too heard the voice asking to "Sing a song or something!!"

I could not let an opportunity like this go to waste I raised my hand covered BC mouth while I belted out what had to be the most horrific version to Brittany Spears "Hit Me Baby On More Time." Hey if he was gonna die the least I could do is get a cheap laugh out him following this horrific way too masculine voice to be "Brittany" as his savior. Ah it is good to be a Duplaix.

"Oh Baby Baby How was I supposed to know" Anthony smiled, "I never thought I'd be this happy to hear a Britney Spears song, unless she was naked I suppose." Anthony followed the song through the tunnels to another young mutant. "Hey you're from Xavier's right? Don't you know any Cypress Hill tunes?"

Bastard

I looked at Duplaix, about to push him away, when he started to sing. Baby one more time?
WHen he lowered his hand from my mouth, I looked at him, uncertain of what to say.
"You know," I began, "Id actually rather hear her sing that, and I hate to hear her sing anything..."
WHen Razorback arrived, the water was growing far too loud and close to mess around...
"Let's get out of here...there's a ladder over there..." I suggested, not waiting, but heading in that direction anyway.

"Lead the way Bastard." Razorback was as anxious to leave as his companions.

Geri, Devine, and Mallory were still with me. Bastard and Pheonix had gone back into the sewers after some voice. There was no time to wait. The last thing we needed to have happen was the caops coming up on a bunc of mutants at a flooded sewer. I looked to the other three.. nodding with my cowboy hat I began off at a jogging pace. cowboy boots thudding in that methodical way. " lets get... We dont wanna be round here when tha cops show up... This aint my first rodeo We need to light a shuck and get on outta here. "

I gave a look back to see them following. We'd have to come find Bastard and Pheonix.. if they lived. Or hopefully find them coming out of one of the manwholes. That struck an Idea in my head I changed direction to follow the way I had seen Bastard run down the sewer tunnel..

Alicia had been in the cab for way too long. Luckily they were close to the mansion now. She closed her eyes and prayed that Beth would be sitting on the grass waiting for her so they could just turn around and go back to Michigan. Then the cab stopped.

"Excuse me sir, but this doesn't look like Xavier's?"

"I'm not going near that mutie place, besides look, the street is flooded can't go that way anyways"

"How am I suppose to get there then?"

"Just walk down three blocks, you can't miss it. Try not to breath in too deeply though, I heard those mutants can give you diseases."

"I'll keep that in mind. What do I owe you?"

"72.00 plus tip of course."

"Here's $75"

"What!! $3? That aint' much of a tip."

"Well maybe next time you'll drive me straight to the door."

"Piss off!!"

Witht that the cab sped back toward the highway and Alicia began her walk to Xavier's.

Parker stepped out of class, yawning heavily. A whole two hours of sleep last night, must have been a new record. It didn't matter though, he would fall asleep in the afternoon.
It took him a semester of nearly failing to learn that without sleep, you can truly die. He walked passed a telephone, before remembering.
"John!"
He hit his head, what was it, noon? Something like that, he quickly hopped into the booth, dialing up the number.
"Yes, John Kleed please."
Oh man, what would he tell him? Xavier just up and died, sorry, such a shame.
Then again, he might be able to help, after all, he was rich, and a mutant besides. This might work out advantagiously after all.
"Yes, hello, John?"

( listen folks if you got a character in here.. Then post. we've got about 3 or 4 charactersWho were started and then you just up and left. Thats bull shit. Dont start a thread if you cant finish it. Now if you got a damn character in here post for it )

There was just no point in it. I would not be able to find bastard like this. The sewers had far to many twists and turns to be able to follow the direction Bastard went in from the streets. So I hualted that action. Turning back to look towards the others. " Damn.. yall look bout as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Simmer down s'gonna be aight But we still need to High tail it on outta here... Any Idea's? "

Their silence was begining to get annoying.. I hadn't heard so much as a cough from either of them. Well they were cute atleast.. trigger finger twitched as I heard steps coming... a group.. three.. four.. nope five.. I could hear each one.. hear the methodical thudding of shoes on pavement.. I tensed for a moment.. listening...

OOC: Horse I understand your frustration but I think the best thing to do is to move on without them. I don't think scolding them will make them post again.

Razorback had lost sight of Bastard and Duplaix in the tunnels. Luckily he saw a light poking through the dark sewers, the surface wasn't too far away. "If anyone can hear me follow the sounds of my voice!"

Finally Anthony crawled out of the sewers. He took a minute to enjoy the fresh, sewage free air before he took in his surroundings. He seemed to have pop up near some river. No houses or business around, just woods. "Wait, where the fuck am I?"

Mystique stood by watching the mansion burn to the ground. She had disgused herself as a police officer, so no one would detect her presence. She didn't know who had destroyed the institue but she wanted to shake their hand.

"Excuse me officer?" Mystique ignored the voice, forgetting about her identity for a minute. "Officer?" "Oh, yes what can I help you with miss?" "I was just wondering if you knew were they were taking the muties?" "Muties?" "Yea, I'm looking for someone that might have been here." Mystique instantly hated the girl, she remember how the word mutie had been chanted at her since she could remember. Then she got another idea. "As a matter of fact I was about to go visit the bastards now, do you need a lift?" "That would be great, thanks." "So what's your name anyway?" "Alicia, Alicia Scott."
