Reporters

Holding his shirt over his mouth and nose a reporter asks Cable "Were mutants the source of the infection?"

Rouge

I wanted to follow Gambit but Psylocke's call was too strong to ignore. Instead I told him, "You be careful, Gambit. If you don't show up in Paris, I will personally make you wish you'd never even seen the color green, much less me, got it?"

Worry laced through my words but I tried to sound brave and confident. Things had gone to hell. Wizard was dying I mused as I flew to Psylocke.

Seeing her, I warily approched. "You've seen better days, haven't ya, Beth?"

Psylocke turned and looked at Rogue, who was acting funny.

"Yes it has been a clusterfuck of a day. My name is Betsy, Rogue. Don't be such a plebeian."

Psylocke decide to leave it at that seeing how a little name slip right now wasn't that big of a deal. Storm approched them and Psylocke could feel that she was having problems. But Storm would have to wait, Wizard was in trouble. She could sense that Cable was closest to Wizard. But turned to Rogue and asked her to go grab Wizard and she would direct her through the fog to him. She turned her mind back to Cable and asked him,

"How come I can sense you now but I couldn't before?"

Cable shrugged, mulling over the reporter's question. He finally decided to tell the truth.

"There are some mutants out there who are hostile. The Xmen aren't the source, rather, a mutant who survives by feeding off of other people, human and mutant alike, an evil creature. I don't know his name, or even if it really is a he, but the creature is closer to being a vampire than a mutant. And you can't be infected unless an infected person feeds off of you, so don't bother covering your nose and mouth." He started to turn away, before remembering something else.

"Also, if you can, tell George Arnold Simms that I'll personally see to it that his son gets back safely." He then turned to Psylocke and looked at her.

"I've been in this time stream longer than I'd intended. I no longer believe it is possible for me to go back to my time."

Psylocke noticed that the fog was dissipating and Storm was looking under the weather. She sensed more people approaching of a military variety and using her telepathic abilities said to Cable,

"Well then grab Wizard and slip us out of here, please. I would like to see Paris, again."

Cable nodded slowly, then moved closer to the group, and looked one of the soldiers in the eye before speaking to his computer.

"Bodyslide by seven." Suddenly, it seemed as if everything around them melted together, only to reform seconds later as Paris.

::Smoke filled the air making it hard to breath and even harder to see. The sound of sirens filled the air as Ambulances and Fire engines crossed the small town putting out the fires and picking up the wounded. Police and military personnel were scattered throughout the many buildings as they tried to piece together what happened in the small German town.

All streets in or out were blocked off, however even if someone wanted to drive into the town it would have been impossible due to the bodies scattered throughout the streets. The X-men team hadn't killed this many of the infected, but something wiped them out.

Gambit had gotten to the town ten minutes or so before and stayed hidden in the dark alleyway as he watched for a good time to start his search for his contact. Despite never knowing where this contact would appear, he had a feeling that the contact would want to come and see this destruction. He had claimed that the information on the stolen disc was his own and the infection that caused this mess was the result of the misuse of that information. He would be here and Gambit was waiting.

Something odd then caught the corner of Gambit's eye and he turned to look to make sure what he was seeing was really happening. A man dressed in a lab coat was wading through a side street that happened to be flooded with dead bodies. If he was a doctor, he wasn't there looking for survivors. He wasn't even checking them for pulses, no he was walking more like a person who was inspecting his handiwork. Gambit had a feeling that it was his contact and went to meet him, however before Gambit could say a word, the Doctor turned and looked at him.::

It is a shame really. All of these poor souls end up infected then murdered. These things happen when powerful information gets into the wrong hands.

::Gambit shook his head.::

Dese people didn't have to die like dis. Dey are already blaming da mutants for da outbreak. Guess it will just be another incident for Governments of da world to persecute us even more.

It will never end, the war between mutants and humans, we both know that. However I'm here to collect that which belongs to me. The disc please.

::Sinister -in the guise of Dr. Essex- held out his hand. Gambit just shook his head.::

Fantomex didn't have da disc on him. Storm claimed to have seen it when she was aboard EVA but said dat it was lost. I'm starting to think dat dere wasn't a disc to begin with and you just sent me to stop Fantomex knowing I wouldn't allow anything to happen to Rogue.

Well then I guess our business together is done then. At least for now.

No, If dis Infection was because of something you created, den you have a cure and I need it.

I take it one of your friends were infected then?

Two actually, though after seeing one of dem I don't t'ink a cure will work for him. I need da cure for Storm though.

Ah then we do still have business to conduct then. A cure for this infection...If there is a cure it would come at a price.

::Gambit took a cigarette and lighter from his trench coat and lit the cigarette after putting it between his lips.::

It always does, Sinister. It always does.

Emma, is it cold in here or is it just her?

"You should have called me. It's endlessly embarrassing to have my name slandered by the mismanagement of this school."

Her voice curled velvet fingers in Alex Summers mind, the White Queen always knew how to make an entrance. Presently she was casting a glacial look over the school from her vantage point in the front hall. Of course she was recognized by the mansions security, she should be, she'd helped Scott re-design it. Scott. That other Summers brother...her former lover who had so unceremoniously taken his leave of her once again to rejoin his 'wife.'

Not that Emma lacked for lovers, should she choose to she could have literally anyone she wanted. But that was never so much fun, never so much challenge as one who thought he didn't want her. She was drawn to challenges, loved pushing the envelope as well as everyone comfort levels. Her very nature tended to put people on edge, a fact she used and exploited.

Clad in snow white leather, the soft supple material dripping form her forearms to well past her knees, a mock cape that melded with the small and well fitted bandeau of her top. From the plunging neckline up was bare, and a good expanse of midriff was brazenly left uncovered. Nothing like her former glorified lingerie costume, but still as everything with Emma was, it radiated sexuality. Her pants seemed to flow seamlessly into the high heeled boots at her feet. Elegance, class and all too knowing of her superiority over the others, Emma Grace Frost had returned to the house that Xavier built.
