Shadowcat listened while Havok gave her instructions. When he was done she smirked at him and said "Sure Alex, whatever you say." Then walked away from him. She started to wander the halls, looking around. She was sure that Jamie Madrox was around here somewhere..
::Thad nodded in agreement, then led the way to the stairs. He stopped at one of the widows and looked out on two students praticing with swords.::
I wounder if Logan is coming backsoon. Seems like a lot of students are looking for sword classes again. Never saw the use of a sword in this day and age.
::He turned to Nori, and shrugged, then walked down the stairs and headed to one of the kitchens. He walked over to the refridgerator and opened the door, looking to see what was within that they could munch on 'til dinner was served.::
Nori was curious about how much Thad actually knew about how she got to the school but decided not to ask and felt that she would rather not bring up that she had been living on the street and is now a recovering drug addict.
"With the powers some of the other kids have, I don't see the point of learning how to use a sword. How often would you actually get into a sword fight. But I think that it is suppose to teach you something else. Like how Biology is suppose to help you think logically. Maybe it's the disciple you are suppose to learn rather than how to use a sword."
Nori found some apples and grabbed one. It looked kind of bruised and she wondered what happened. She searched around until she found one she liked.
::Thad nodded as he searched the contents of the fridge.::
I'm sure it's something like that. I do agree that I'm not sure how a katana will help you in a fight with another mutant, but hey it is not my place to ask why.
::He looked in a few tupperware containers, then shook his head not finding much to eat. His eyes went to the door where something caught his attention and made him smirk. He took the can of whipped cream and shook it as he turned to look at Nori.::
Nori looked at the can of whipped cream and laughed. She got a confused look on her face but couldn't suppress the grin. She blinked obviously a few times and said,
"but whipping cream doesn't go with apples."
She laughed again and threw an apple at him and said,
Nori tried looking down at her nose at the whipped cream and was going to say something until she caught the look on his face and was a little surprised.
"Aww, now my nose is cold."
She leaned forward and wiped her nose off on his neck and licked up the whipped cream.
::He smiled when she complained about the whipped cream, then shuddered when she wiped it on him then licked it off. He laughed softly, then looked over his shoulder at her.::
See I told you that it would be fun...
::He put the can down on the counter and took up his apple, taking another bite and chewwing it before sighing.::
I hope classes start soon, but with the mansion in such disarray since Rogue, Storm and the rest came back from Germany. Oh did you hear that Gambit came home with them? I never thought he would come back after that trial he was involved with...
I watched Amanda dart away, sorry that I'd startled her. Getting up, I walked over to her and whispered, "Its okay- anyone gives you shit, I back you up. Tis what friends are for, right? Besides, we're all different here, and that's a good thing. Strength in diversity and all that jazz."
Turning around, I shrugged to the girl (?) approching. "I'm sorry- the lightest I have is a training rapier- blunted and dulled along the tip and edges respectively. Is that light enough?"
Rummaging through the training weapons I'd brought down, I found the rapier in question and handed it to the new person. "I'm Bryn and that's Amanda."
She handled the sword like one familiar with it. "Sadly you have my only sword of that weight and size."
From the pile I picked up a my pair of personal training swords, the duplicates for Hugin and Munin. They were roughly scimitar like in shape, heavier then a rapier, lighter then a bastard sword. Weighty enough to do damage even if caught on a shield but nimble enough to wisk past another's defenses.
"Since I assume you have some training, do you mind if I use my main combat style? Or would you prefer I use only one blade?"
Babs squinted, it seemed her opponent was not familiar with fencing. Babs wasn't about to fight someone who was using a renn-fair prop, she was liable to get hurt.
"Some other time, when we have two rapiers? I want to fence, not play with swords. That is dangerous."
She smiled and handed the practice sword back.
"Maybe you know who I talk to, to arrange trip to embassy and bank? I lose my purse when I was hiding in forest."
Amanda sat panting for a few seconds before Bryn apologised for startling her. She managed a nervous smile. "Ummm, it's, uhhhhh, ok. Just not, uhhhh... used to crowds"
She could feel her heartbeat slowing down a bit as she breathed to calm herself down. Looked like Bryn was going to spar with the French girl. That was, until the French girl handed back the training blade.
Apon hearing the French girl's question, she looked up. "Ummmm, maybe, uhhhh, Storm would know..."
"I hope classes start soon, but with the mansion in such disarray since Rogue, Storm and the rest came back from Germany. Oh did you hear that Gambit came home with them? I never thought he would come back after that trial he was involved with..."
Nori gave him a push and said,
"And here I thought you were completly oblivious to what was going on around you. I don't know if Gambit is back for good or not. I don't know if all classes are going to be able to start. I think we are short a few teachers now."
I meant the student gossip, you know. Oh did you hear that so and so is dating so and so behind so and so's back? Really? well I heard that this person and that person were caught behind the bushes doing this and that and now I think they are an item...
::He righted himself after the push and took another bite of his apple. He chewwed and swallowed before adding.::
If we as students didnt pay attention to what the teachers as X-men were doing and what happened while they were away, then why are we even at this mansion. Yes all of us want to learn to control our powers more and to get the schooling that we wouldnt have in regular schools because of our abilities, but lets face it. If you didn't come to the School to become a X-men, you're only lying to yourself.
I accepted the sword back and returned it to the pile. "As you like. Amanda's right- Storm would know where to find out embassy information."
Stepping back, I pulled both my blades, whirling them around in my hands, walking them across the tops of my hands in a whirling, flashing flare.
"Either of you have any idea when or where I could get a class schedule? I figure if I don't get one, I'll tag along with Amanda, if you don't mind, till I get one."
Chihiro shrugged off what at first looked like a backpack, then pulled it up and put it on her arm. She used something called a Multiple Weapon System, essentially an electronic fist with blades and tasers and a few other things.
"I use this. I haven't actually had a chance to use it outside of the simulator though, since Xeno does most of the fighting."
When it became apparent Storm wasn't leaving Havok stood up to leave himself. It was apparent he would have to continue his work later.
"First, you and I aren't going to run the school. You'll run the school. I'll rebuild my team so that the X-Men will be ready to stand on the front lines if and when this world starts to crumble. The school is supposed to train mutants in the use of their powers to make them safer toward themselves and the homo sapiens But until these kids can do that and do it responsibly, they are a danger to themselves and the sapiens and the sapiens are a danger to them. Someone has to stand between them until they are ready and right now we don't have many who are able to do that. But that's something I plan on changing."
Tony stood outside and watched as the girls began to spar.
He saw Dallas Gibson pop up out of a shadow to watch.
"Man Dallas, I tell ya. Know wonder this school is always getting blown up. What's the use of metal detectors if they let kids bring swords to school?"
The boy laughed.
"Heh, look at their swords. Where the fuck is this girl from? The Fellowship of the Kings!?"
Psicout began to taunt the women and jeer.
"Hey New Kid! That sword will come in really handy if you're ever in a fight...with the ming dynasty!"
Some of the students began to laugh.
He adopted a horrible austrailian accent.
"Hey! Highlander! You call that a knooife! That's not a knooife!!"
Psicout began to watch as his own light blue energy signature began to emanate from his eyes and travel to his hands. With a dramatic slashing motion with his arm, he appeared to try to cut the air with his hand.
When his arm came to rest, the blue energy signature had taken the form of a long kitana.
"This is a knooife!!!" he yelled and began making mock slashing moves in every direction.
I looked at the new boy yelling at us, or rather me and was puzzled. Maybe it was my grasp on English- it wasn't my first language but I was decent with it.
I looked to Amanda, "What's a koolie? And what's that idiot raving about? I'm not Scottish- they're much nastier peoples."
Chihiro scoffed at the young man's words. She stepped towards him. "Maybe you should try sparring with one of us. When you can beat us, then you can start teasing us." She grinned slightly, the idea of a fight, and a chance to test out the REAL M.W.S. was intriguing to her. And besides, with Tai asleep, he couldn't stop her from the challenge.
Babette may not have been able to keep up with the rapid-fire jeering, but she understood the intent behind it pretty well, "Celui-là est peut-être une lumière de peu dans la tête?"
She watched Psicout's power in action and once again wondered how, if mutants powers were based on evolution, could they all be so different. Her train of thought was intended to keep her brother asleep, as she knew thinking about Psicout's behavior would likely cause him to wax wrathful. The last thing she wanted right now was for her overprotective brother to do anything they would regret later.
Amanda heard someone yelling insults in their general direction. Looking at where they were coming from, she say the guy who called himself Psycout jeering at them. It made her feel awful, and she dropped her gaze a little. It didn't matter if the insults were being aimed at her or not, they still stung. Especially so when it was a friend getting insulted.
She stood up and turned her back on Psycout, crossing her arms across her chest and generally looking dejected. "That's Psycout. He's a pain sometimes..."
She heard one of the other girls move to challenge him. The other one said something in French that she didn't understand. Perhaps a good book would help.
I nodded when Amanda said that...Psych-out I think it was... was an ass.
"Yes, I do see the resemblance to a mule there," I said sagely, knowing I was mistranslating what she said but using it to my advantage.
I looked to the other person who'd stepped out and said something against Psych-out. She reminded me a lot of my brothers girlfriend, which meant she was Asian, probably Japanese.
Smiling I stepped around the lug, and gave a small, informal bow. "Konbonwa, Bryn des! Is this Psychoit no baka?"
The rough translation was, good evening, I'm Bryn! Is this Psychoit an idiot?
I'd picked up a few words, not enough to hold a real conversation, but enough to be moderatlly polite and equally insulting.
