Yeast Infection Crazieness!...Help ME

thanks Adrraiya

I don't have any plain yogurt atm, and can't get to the store, so I'm doing the next best thing...

I first put a capsule of acidophilus up my vag, then i opened a couple capsules and sort of sprinkled them over my labia. The yeast had spread up past my clit and it was all very painful. I'm laying down with this stuff on me as I type this, so maybe in about a half hour, I'll rinse it off.

The itching has stopped (I've learned this is only momentarily) and so has the burning.

I didn't know that i was supposed to stay away from fruit, oops. And Damn it, I have a horrible sweet tooth! This is all very torturous.

Tomorrow, I am going to Planned Parrenthood and getting that magic pill that takes it all away. It worked the last time I had a yeast infection, so I'm hoping it works again.

If you have some hydrocortisone cream, that might soothe things a bit, too.

There are different theories on this, so I wouldn't be so quick to ditch the fruit. Some people believe yeast infections are a result of an overgrowth of intenstinal flora, and you need an extreme diet with absolutely no sugar or carbs for quite sometime to "starve" the yeastand bad flora out. Others believe diet has nothing to do with vaginal yeast infections, or at least a varied diet rich in fruits, veggies and whole grains is the way to go. Some blame refined sugar, carbs, etc., etc.

The only people I know who have correlated yeast infections to their diets are diabetics.

Still, cutting way down on refined sugars can't hurt you at all if you tend to overindulge. Cutting healthy things, like whole fruits, out of your diet, probably is going to do more harm than good in terms of your overall health.

I always have my doc write for extra generic diflucan. Even if I only need one at the time, my copay is the same regardless of how many I get, and it doesn't hurt to have it on hand in case an infection pops up randomly, I have to take antibiotics, etc.

Anyway, if you're on a fixed copay, you might want to ask about getting some extras on this prescription in case the first dose doesn't take care of it or the infection recurs in the next year or so. Most providers are more than happy to help you save money whenever possible if you tell them it's a concern.

I was actually searcing for advice to see if I could have sex during a yeast infection, but after finding this thread, I also now want to know if I can use the capsules of acidophilus instead of the tabs up in my vagina? Finding this home remedy is awesome as I didn't want to have to purchase OTC meds this morning.

Oh, yeah, and can I have sex during a yeast infection? lol

If you have sex during a yeast infection, you have to treat your partner too lest you reinfect him. Re occuring thrush infections should be seen to by a doctor as you may not have thrush at all (not that uncommon) or you may be diabetic.

i had a dose of antibiotics recently, got thrush which cleared up but not I have non infectious thing. Its horrible and showing no sign of ending...

nope, don't have any, which, usually someone like me who has eczema would, but I use a liquid hydrocortisone...

I don't have insurance, and since I'm "low income", the treatment and exams at planned parenthood are free for me. (for now anyways if funding doesn't get cut)

Thanks Erika!

Erica.... the loss of fruits is temporary... and any yeast infection can become systemic... especially one that is proving difficult to treat...

Your point about fruit is valid... and I understand what you are saying... but there are reasons to temporarily remove fruit (and fruit juices)... and that is to give any possible oral, intestinal, and/or anal existence of the yeast to die down long enough to treat the vaginal infection.

Consider that strawberries can actually have small amounts of fungal matter that clings to the skin, even after they are washed (I grew up on a farm, this is matter-of-fact and only one example)

My point in sharing this treatment is based in the simple fact that I was plagued with re-occuring yeast infections for 2 years... my sisters for decades... and I have not had even one single yeast infection ever since I did what it took to rid my body of the over-growth & to protect it from any further overgrowth of yeast.... this same method of treatment worked for both of my sisters (when all other treatments failed, include gynecologist prescribed anti-fungal medications)... and has also worked for numerous other women... at least 20 that I personally know

25 years & not one single yeast infection is at least enough evidence to show that it worked for me... the fact that it has worked for at least 20 other women who I personally know when all other treatments failed... gives the concept even more credibility

This is especially true if someone is sexually active because a woman can be in the early stages of a yeast infection & not know it... then the man goes down on her... or they have intercourse & she goes down on him.... and before anyone knows it he is carrying the yeast infection (and possible infected orally, intestinally, and/or anally) and giving it back to her

A very good book to read is called The Yeast Connection (damn, I am surprised I am able to recall the name... but there it is)... it was a "text-book" for this class at the health food store... and they now have an on-line Yeast Connection support place... --- see this link ---- http://www.yeastconnection.com/

Grayze & any other woman who like to know more... just PM me... it isn't that I have a problem sharing it here... it is that it is so extensive and long & apparently causing issues for others... that it just makes more sense.

and, oh yeah... I am not diabetic... neither are either of my sisters...

Sorry, I must have missed where Grayze said it was an ongoing problem. When that's the case, I totally agree one needs to look at other factors, like diet.

I think we're on the same page about the occasional infection not necessitating the removal of all sugars, including fruits. :)

Thanks for all the info and advice, I am feeling much better now. :)

>>>>just a side note tho...I know that the underline can make the q in my name look like a g, but it is a q, lol, and pronounced like "crazy" hehe

I am a vinegar bath/douche believer, as soon as I start being itchy I do the vinegar rinse on the outside and do a vinegar tampon (soak a small tampon with the diluted vinegar solution and insert it in for maximum of 2 minutes (any longer would damage the the tender skin in there and probably worsen the yeast problem.) once in the morning and once before bed and it clears everything away usually within one or two days. but the itch relief is nearly instant.

I use apple cider vinegar diluted 2 tablespoons in a 500ml squirt bottle if you are scared it might burn too much you could try decreasing the amount of vinegar.

Yeast is no fun! I have put yogurt down there and have had major relief. I have put acidophilus tablets inside me. The main thing I do is the vinegar water wash. One cup of water with 1 teaspoon of vinegar. I will rinse myself with this and sometimes douche with it. I also wash my hiney with it. When I am on my period I dip the top of the tampon in vinegar & water, just enough to wet the tip, and then I put it up inside. It really helps to keep my internal ph on track. When I need to I take some stuff called "yeast releaf" made by Herbs etc.
