Greg stood and leaned over the bar to kiss Gabriella, telling her, "Don't be long." He wasn't sure what might happen between her and Lance when he was gone, but after what he'd seen with her and Callis, she could take care of herself. He wasn't sure if Lance would say or do anything, or if she'd make any attempt to push him any farther, but it was evident that if something did happen, she wanted no audience.
Before he left, he clapped a hand on Lance's shoulder, saying, "Good luck," to which he received only a grunt. Greg then headed for his car and home to wait for Gabriella to arrive.
***
Lance didn't say much as the patrons filtered out. He knew the girls were trying to figure out what the fuck was going on. They knew he wasn't fucking Gabriella like he was them, and while it seemed they were okay with that, he knew they wondered why. The couple of glances up to Gabriella after she and Greg finally emerged from his office should have told them why. He was no wuss, but after seeing the brutal ferocity with which she took care of Dallis, there was definitely a dangerous person there. It didn't matter what her gender was, she was a threat no matter what her gender.
Finally, even the help went home, leaving the only glass unwashed, the only barstool not upended off the floor, was his. The only girl that hadn't gone home yet was Gabriella.
