You are MINE (closed)

Yeah... I know... This is nice.

She didn't want to think about it. Nor the feeling of someone attempting to follow her from work. Somewhere in the back of her mind it seemed too perfectly timed that Callis would show up that closely after Vince... Was he just a distraction?

Greg hated having brought up the subject of what had been happening of late. Gabriella, while not freaking out after being reminded of recent events, seemed not quite so relaxed as she had been. Still, she remained where she was, snuggling in a little closer, as if closer contact would help to shield her from more of the kinds of threats that had surfaced in their lives of late.

For a little bit, they ate in silence, Greg idly running his fingers through Gabriella's hair, both lost in whatever thoughts they might have. It seemed anything more than the oral attention he had given her had flown out the window after his comment. Once it had started to escape his mouth, he knew the evening would be shot, but it was said, and taking it back was out of the question.

Are you wanting to talk about all of this or just be us tonight?

Time to test the situation she figured to see where his head was after that statement.

Fuck. Even if he hadn't brought it up, he knew there was an elephant in the room, if not two. Getting Gabriella off had been a nice way to ignore it, but as his comment illustrated, it was right up close to the top of both their minds.

With a huge sigh, Greg said, "While I would dearly love to ravish you to within an inch of your life, I think we both know where our heads are really at right now. I know I'm thinking about it, and I have a hard time believing you aren't feeling at least a touch paranoid at the moment, too."

Paranoid... Not so much... Debating which brother I could keep under control and still let him help me with these issues yeah.

She admitted she was thinking of calling in at least one member of the cavalry.

Greg didn't like Gabriella's notion of bringing one of her brothers into all this, but he didn't say anything. He knew he couldn't be with her 24/7, and he couldn't request police protection without rousing suspicions. Besides, there had to be probable cause for the police to assign a detail, and while Gabriella had capitulated to making the one report, he doubted he would get her in there again, except in truly dire circumstances.

"Brother? Wouldn't that be kind of awkward? I mean, considering either I usually end up spending the night at your place, or you at mine?"

No... Having them stay here and me stay with you or them stay at your place and you stay here. It's extra eyes and them calling contacts I might not know are even here or anywhere around.

She shrugged she knew he wouldn't like it but she also knew if Vince pulled in one of Lance's secrets he pulled them all.

Vince knows Lance's past secrets... If he pulled one in then he pulled them all in.

"I know. I mean, I knew Lance was no angel, but I didn't know he'd been connected to a character like Callis.

"How can you be sure, if you call one brother, that others won't follow? Like I said before, I don't want to call down the kind of collateral damage that war between people like them and people like Vince and Callis ate capable of causing."

I tell them I only need one only one will come. It's called respect and loyalty. I say one Alexi sends one. Vince however will pull every dark secret out of Lance's closet and unleash them on the city to prove a point. Also my family knows how Callis works. Why would it not be a good idea to have people here who know how to deal with it and are here to help the cops stop these people.

She tossed up her hands.

You don't want any of them here fine... You better hope Callis is the worst of Lance's secrets and that he doesn't call in his entire arsenal of thugs goons and hitmen.

"Whoa. Relax, babe. I understand what you're saying. Your brothers can get by with shooting first and asking question later. The cops, unfortunately, have to wait until the law's broken to act. I just don't like having to call in guys that don't have to adhere to the law, even if, in this case, they'll have a better chance of taking out the bad guys in less time than if we wait for things to be done by the book. The main thing is, I don't want innocents hurt, and I don't want a tremendous body count for my boys to stumble across."

If they have a target they target dies not everyone and their brother. They are more professional than that Greg.

She sighed.

Think about how long you have known Lance. Did you know about Callis? Who else do you not know about? Have you looked at a file for Callis?

"To be honest, from your assurances, I'm not so concerned with your brothers as I am with the types of people they'll be targeting. I have doubts that those guys will have any compunction about opening fire in a crowd.

"And as far as Lance goes, there are parts of his life that are a complete cipher. Yes, I've looked him up, and there isn't much. The Callis thing was a surprise to me. All I knew is something happened in his previous life that caused him to want out. There were no details as to what that life might have been, and he's been closed-lipped about it.

"Up until a few hours ago, I had no idea that Callis had any connection to any of this."

So how about this... I have Alexi have the Mayor there in Boston get ahold of your boss and send one of them as an advisor about Callis since he is in town?

She shrugged trying to find a way to save her new home without having to become violent herself even more than she already had.

Greg hesitated. Gabriella's idea made sense, but the cop in him hated having wild cards running around, who answered to no one but themselves and whatever code they may abide by. However, the people they were talking about had even fewer rules they adhered to, at least by society's standards, so more than likely, if it was left up to the police to do things "by the book," chances are there would be bodies and property damage to contend with, before they could lift a finger.

"Make the call," he said tightly. "If one of your clan can help resolve this before too many people get hurt, get 'em here." It was a bad idea, but in this situation, Greg couldn't see a good one.

****

It had been over an hour since Gabriella left, and Lance still sat at the bar, brooding over his empty glass. Callis showing up had shaken him. Thank god Gabriella had been so scary capable and took him down so easily. Lance was afraid if he'd have been left to it, Callis would have been a bloody pulp on the floor, with very little left to identify. Lance had thought he'd left that life behind, trading the violence for sex and debauchery. In retrospect, he didn't like the man he'd been when Callis had been a part of his life. Not that he was that great now, but he was more-or-less respectable, and the women who fucked him did so without fear. When he called a girl into his office, they came willingly, knowing what they were likely going in to do.

Then, there was Gabriella. The only one who had refused him and stayed. It was a conundrum he couldn't understand. Not only did she stay, but even after the Vince thing, she came back. She even fought for Lance against Callis and his men. He couldn't figure it out. Yeah, she was a bad-ass's badass, but why would she stick around? Why didn't she just shove a bar stool up his ass and walk out?

Fuck.

Finally, he decided he wasn't going to figure it out any time soon, and that he should just get the hell out of there and ponder another day. Dropping his glass on the back rail, he left his stool and went back to his office, to finish up the days' business before heading out.

Sitting at his desk, he fired up the computer that activated the cameras around the building. The bar itself was truly empty, and only a cat showed in the alley. He turned to the screen that housed all the business shit, but as he turned, he saw one of the screens change.

The feed wasn't from one of his cameras. This was coming from somewhere else. He didn't recognize the place. It was somebody's bedroom. It only took a few seconds for him to realize the woman laying on the bed getting her pussy eaten was Gabriella, and from the profile, Greg was the one doing the eating.

What the fuck? For a minute or so, Lance just sat there watching. His cock hardened as he saw the woman he wanted so badly being serviced by her man. He watched her orgasm again and again, then finally, it was over and Greg got up and left, leaving Gabriella nude on the bed.

When Greg returned, he pulled Gabriella up to lounge against him and they began to eat like this. Lance couldn't hear what they were talking about, but at one point, Gabriella got frustrated, and for a second, Lance thought she was going to get up and storm out, but whatever Greg said next calmed her.

What the fuck was going on? Who had done this? It could only be one person, but how?

Lance picked up the phone and dialed Greg's cell. It went right into voice mail. Next he gave a shot to Gabriella's. Same thing. Fuck.

Fuck the business stuff. He powered down everything and got out of there. He gambled that the room they were in was at Gabriella's place.

Lance raced down the streets until he reached the address Gabriella had given him when she applied for her job. He hoped she hadn't just grabbed an address at random, because whoever lived at the place he was going to, was going to get disturbed by him shortly.

Lance took the stairs two at a time until he reached the address he had. Then, he pounded on the door of the apartment, hoping he had the right place...

First thing in the morning. I will catch Alexi right before his usual visit with his old highschool friend and Mayor. I call him tonight they will be on my doorstep...

There was a banging on the door which prompted a quick robe toss on and a 40cal to find it's way to her hand as she looked to Greg and headed to the door.

Who is it?

Lance heard a scramble on the other side of the door, then Gabriella's voice called out cautiously, "Who is it?"

"It's Lance," he whispered huskily, conscious of the hour. "Open the goddamn door."

Greg had slipped on his pants and stood just behind Gabriella. "Are you alone?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm fucking alone! Open the fucking door!"

40 Cal still in hand as she opened the door.

What the hell do you want?

The door opened just a little bit, and Lance could see a very upset Gabriella in the seam.

"Just let me the fuck inside. I don't want to talk about it in the hallway. Please!"

He thought a bit.

"Or better yet, the two of you get out here, and I'll go in and do some searching."

What the hell are you talking about Lance.

She opened the door with a growl. Looking to Greg then back to Lance.

Lance grabbed Gabriella's arm and yanked her out into the hallway, then reached in and did the same with Greg. He then stormed into the apartment, closed the door and began looking...

Knowing what to look for, he found the first one easily. Taking a chair from the kitchen, he reached into the corner of the living room and pulled away the tiny camera. It was small enough and colored such that it blended in very well with the wall.

Next, he went to the kitchen and found another. In the bathroom: two. The bedrooms each contained two.

Figuring this probably wasn't the end of it, he figured he had enough to cool down the no-doubt fuming woman who stood in the hall.

Throwing open the door, he held out his hand.

What the hell?

She stared at the cameras in his hand then looked to Greg.

Greg saw what Lance held in his hand, and his jaw dropped.

"Son of a bitch!" he exclaimed. "What the fuck? Where the hell did those come from? Those don't look like any security system I've ever seen. Who the hell could have put those up?"

Lance stepped aside to let the pair back inside. "I can guess, and I think you can, too. As for when or how, I couldn't begin to say. Why? To at least some extent, I think we can also guess.

"The question is whether or not your place is set up the same way," he said, pointing to Greg.

She walked over to her own little liquor cabinet. Pouring a drink in silence before tossing them the bottle not caring who caught it.

Greg was closest when the bottle came flying, so he reached out and caught it. Without a word, he removed the cap and took a slug, then passed it to Lance, who took a long pull, himself.

Setting the bottle on a side table, he said, "Now you know what to look for, I suggest we go through the whole place for more of these little bastards. I bet these aren't the only ones."

I want a cop protecting the old couple and their grandkids who own this place Greg and I want it yesterday.

She begins testing the living room apart not really caring right now.
