You poor poor people

Good luck mate. :p :D

But yep... I agree. My heart bleeds. ;)

He he... I pay more than that at the moment as I put diesel in my motor, so I am reckoning I pay somehere near $8.60 a US gallon

Sucks living on a poxy island dunnit? :D

Also factor into the equation that most states in the States have no MOT system, much lower road tax, and the insurance costs are generally a hell of a lot less than ours................ yeah, genuine heart bleeding lumpy custard moment

I couldn't say I know all about the other associated costs, but yeah.... lumpy custard and all that, notice the yanks are not going anywhere near this one?? :D

Yup, suspiciously quiet from that side of the pond :D

I'm reading.. does that count? :D

I guess it's just what you're used to. If you're used to lower prices and they sky rocket at a drop of the hat..., doesn't matter where you're at, it sucks.

Ooooh a live one!!!! :D

And yes reading does count

I know, its just that when we see it as it is and we too have had sharp rises on the stuff too, we can't help but have a little envy now can we?? :D

Of course not. :) and totally understandable.

WEll and then you have to take into account that in England and Ireland and other places in GB, that you have public transportation, you have a lot less driving to do. Many cities are smaller and then bigger in the US and we have to drive further into work and to where the stores are. I live 30 miles from wear I work and the housing is crappy in town, so that is why we live further out.
But I am not crying like some are and I do not drive a major gas hog like an SUV or anything like that. I try to drive something that gets 30 or more mpg.
But yes I know it is harder on other countries then on us.

I am aware of that fact and its not a jibe at you guys, I'd be castrated by the charming one if I were trying that one ;)

30 mpg?? again, I come in better there as I get nearer 40 out of mine, but then we have a larger gallon so I'm not too sure

Oh I know and I agree that people cry about stuff too much.

I am sure there are many different things from each place. I know America gets slammed alot for the things that go on, but for the most part, people are just trying to make a living and pay the bills like everywhere else.

I hope one day the stereotypes of all people will get dropped and we are just judged for who we are a PERSON are, not how our GOVERNMENT is.

And I know that is not what you are saying... just putting that out there...

heh, we all need to moan about something from time to time :D

The thing I think (IMHO) is that the US being the size it is, will never get an easy ride from the rest of the world, just because its ability to not be able to right every wrong that the world itself creates. You guys are in a 'damned if you do, and damned if you don't' situation.

I did have many prejudices about the US, and when I arrived there in November 2006, I was transformed, I didn't meet anyone that was obnoxious and my opinion really did change, of course, I did have someone to swing that opinion, but I really did reach it myself :D

Course ya know...we could be discussing how a gallon of gas out in Saudi Arabia works out to roughly...oh $0.25 a gallon...-shrugs-

Speaking from a Canadian standpoint (where we sell gas by the litre too hehe), it's like $1.10 a litre right now and that is terrible. I, however, have a lovely free transit pass from my university so I use that as much as I can- save my car for the trips that just aren't convenient on the bus! Works out very nicely for me!
