Your Feelings Thru Poetry

Thanks, cookie.

As usual, you knew exactly what I needed, cookie: my own personal therapy session. Writing poetry is therapy for me.

Reflections / Father's Day, 2003

The passing of each day, eases my pain
gradually . . . gradually.
After 40, I learned a life lesson:
Some wounds never heal.

I feel free now, unencumbered by invisible, imaginary bonds.
If she wasn't fettered, why should I wear shackles?
I feel strong, responsible for my own salvation.

And I've come to realize that I have always been
Responsible for others, as well.

My children are my salvation.
Pliable, untouchable.
My darling daughters who worship me.

I am a man, a beautiful man.
One small twig on a proud and wonderful family tree.

I am tired. If she loves me, the pain will ease
gradually . . . gradually.
