Day 5: A duet cover song

I'm not one for reality TV, or soap operas, or stuff like that. There's something icky to me, about ogling people and wondering about their feelings and their lives and everything else that comes with a parasocial relationship.

I'm also a hypocrite. I'm weak. Of course I get caught in stuff like that from time to time. Who doesn't? The most fun I've had with a will-they-won't-they situation is between Sarah Blackwood and Gianni Luminati of Walk Off The Earth. Their chemistry was so thick it clouded the room, but they never told anyone about their relationship until Sarahs pregnancy made it... difficult to hide. They didn't want to detract from their music with their personal relationship, but, all we fans were screaming so hard for them to get together, only to be shown that they were. All along.

I'm sappy. I was so happy I cried when they told us 😹 I mean, just look at them. They're perfect for each other. They have three kids now, all musicians of course. A little trio of preteen troubadours.

Gianni and Sarah - Fairytale of New York

I find it funny that The Civil Wars had the same rumors and questions flying about them. They had such amazing chemistry that came across both in recordings and live (and their live shows were fantastic) that everyone assumed they were married or at least involved. Both were happily married to other people, and nothing to each other than the band, with people digging (as people do, which, yes, is icky) and not finding any evidence of the contrary. As Joy put it once, she was not in love with JPW, but she was in love with the band. They made two nearly perfect albums of love and loss and longing, toured a lot, came to despise each other, and stopped talking. For the second album, which still had electric chemistry, they for the most part recorded it separately because they couldn't stand to be in the same room. Honestly, it was like Buckingham and Nicks, without the fucking. (Stevie Nicks said the same thing in an interview before the pair broke it off for good.)

Day 6: A song that mentions a time of day

Elton John - Someone Saved My Life Tonight
"it's four o'clock in the morning, damn it. Listen to me good, I'm sleeping with myself tonight."
This line pops in my head a lot... no idea why, really. Anyway.. early Elton, what's not to like?
My favorite Elton song.

You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away
High away
Bye bye
