Day 22: A song from the 00s

Keeping in my theme of music that branch out from The Band, this is folk and blues artist Jorma Kaukonen. This album was produced at Levon Helm's home studio, and Levon plays drums on this track. It is a fun song which I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't shoehorned myself into this stupid theme, so even my idiocy has a bright spot. (This is why @morelikeasong makes themes and I don't.)

"Cracks in the Finish," Jorma Kaukonen.

More Boston.

Into The Valley was originally an anthem by early working class punks, The Skids.

But The Street Dogs really did a nice, heavier version and changed the lyrics of one of the verses to be reflective of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Singer Mike was the original singer from the Dropkick Murphy’s.

Day 23: A song from the 10s

Staying in Boston. I think The Cars were were my first favorite band. I bought their first record and Candy-O with my own money (mowing lawns, shoveling snow). My sisters got sick of them I played it so much.

My one sister met Ric Ocasek, she was doing the interior decoration for his home. She didn’t get an autograph, but told him how annoyed she was with me over the Cars. He laughed.

This is from their reformation album in 2011. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was a good album…and this song is top notch - classic Cars sound. RIP Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasek.
