Day 1: A song by a band you wish was still together

Right after Kent released their first album, they made it big. They'd been playing together for a couple of years in the early 90's but it wasn't until '96 that they had their break through with their eponymous debut. They were so new on the scene that this host introduced them by the wrong name (Kräm, cream), but they laughed it off and played their hearts out 💕

26 years later they called it quits. They'd said all they wanted to say, played all they wanted to play, and frontman Jocke wanted to retire from the stage. Good on you, Jocke. Love you forever.

Kent - Halka (Slippery)
Live right after their debut.

Day 1: A song by a band you wish was still together (not broken up by death)

They got along long enough to make five amazing records until they could no longer stand each other. “A reunion will never happen.” -Paul Weller

The Jam - In The City

Day 1: A song by a band you wish was still together (not broken up by death)

Panic! at the Disco was originally a pop band consisting of friends Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson, and Brendon Urie. One by one they left the band, until 2015 when Panic! became Urie's solo project. He continues under that name, but they haven't been a band for almost a decade. And I miss them.

This is Panic! at their best, dealing with dark topics through pop sensibilities. As analogies go, this is one of the most dark and vitriolic that I have seen, with the singer wanting to keep away from his ex, but unable to do so.

"I taste you on my lips and I can't get rid of you
So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do

Yeah, you're worse than nicotine..."

Urie's solo work doesn't scratch the level of obsession and theatricality they did as a band.

"Nicotine," Panic! at the Disco.

Apropos of nothing, when I got to name a network room at work, I called it "Panic! at the Cisco "

This is just one of those songs… so fucking good

Day 30; A song from your favorite band

As so many others have said, it is very difficult to choose a favorite artist. I chose this song because it shows off some of the range of Elvis. This isn't the edgy rebel rocker, this sounds like you walked into a smokey lounge in a sketchy neighborhood.

I found his music through you posting him! One of the best parts of this thread. Great song—he’s such a good lyricist imo
Am I paranoid
Or am I just stoned?”

Day 2: A song with punctuation in the title

Not necessarily my favorite song, but it definitely has punctuation in the title, and maybe my favorite punctuation, as it gets mentioned in my Lit profile.

"Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?"

I do, Vampire Weekend. I do.

"Oxford Comma," Vampire Weekend

(Through the pain, I always tell the truth)

Julia Jacklin - to Perth, before the border closes

JJ does aching yearning and loss brilliantly. Saw her live a couple of weeks ago, playing solo in a London theatre and this was wonderful.

Day 2: A song with punctuation in the title

A match made in heaven a hallucinogenic dreamscape 💕

Little Dragon ft Kali Uchis - Are you feeling sad?

I am breaking the rules to allow myself two songs today since the October list wasn’t published until Day #2 my time.

So …

Day 1: A song by a band you wish was still together (not broken up by death)

I’m a big White Stripes fan and was disappointed when Jack and Meg called it quits. This is one of my favourites.

Ball and Biscuit - The White Stripes

Day 2: A song with punctuation in the title

A full stop counts as punctuation, right? So here’s something completely different. Turn up da bass.

Mr. Miyagi - Sub Antix
