Day 5: A song for a tired morning

Is there a different kind? 😅 I'm so jealous of morning people! I'm going down the jolt-me-awake-by-way-of-dance route. I feel like that's my reason for listening to music >75% of the time anyway. I'm just a sleepy girl 🥱

Better wake up, little sleepy head
Big old world will pass us by
So many things we could do instead

Get what you want with your lucky eyes

Faster Kill Pussycat - Paul Oakenfold ft. Brittany Murphy

This was my first thought. And my second thought was “no, that’s a song an insane person listens to first thing in the morning”
We're all a little mad here....

Day 6: A song featuring one or more woodwind instruments

This is one of those songs that almost everyone can hum along to, but few know the name of.
It really tickles the fantasy-dork inside me; bringing me on an exploration deep underground, a moment of discovery and wonder, then intense panic as I have to flee!

Also, bassoon is such a fun word to say 😁

Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King

Day 6: A song featuring one or more woodwind instruments

My way of answering today's prompt was to recognize I really enjoy eclectic and kinda weird music, so just by listening to my liked songs I'd come across an answer.

✨Imagine my delight to hear this song come on and hear that beautiful flute...

This is the song that got me to fall in love with Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros.

I'm a happy girl tonight 🤩

Day 6: A song featuring one or more woodwind instruments

Leonardo Pellegrino, who performs as "Leo P," is a baritone saxophonist best known for busking with his band, Too Many Zooz, mostly in New York City. In 2017, he played alongside the Netherlands jazz and pops orchestra Metropole Orkest at the famous BBC Proms. They played several songs by irascible jazz genius Charles Mingus, starting out with "Brasshouse" and "Moanin'" To be honest, I am really not sure what Mingus would have thought of this. He would either love it, or try to kill Leo with his bass. Or both. He was "The Angry Man of Jazz," after all.

Leo P combines a brilliant understanding of the baritone saxophone with a street performer's energy, shtick, and flair. It is utterly remarkable for him to play with such range, and precision, while bouncing around like a cartoon cat. If cocaine played jazz, this is what it would look like. But his musicality is incredible as well. The first three minutes are filled by just Leo and the drummer, before the whole orchestra comes in for "Moanin'." American jazz musician Christian Scott solos on his custom trumpet before the two trade solos. It is all as gimmicky and over the top as Leo's hair, but it is still a hell of a good time.

Maybe Mingus would have approved.

Day 6: A song featuring one or more woodwind instruments

First song that comes to mind. Early reggae/skinhead reggae/late rocksteady. 1968 collaboration with Tommy McCook on the flute and the arranging. (He was the sounding member of the skatellites) and Stranger Cole with the vocals.

Classic bubbly keyboard sound of this genre but with a flute rounding things out. One of my favorite songs.

I have this 45 (but on Unity record label) and it’s one of my prize vinyl possessions. I recall paying $25 for it way back in 1988.
