Zella Day - Sweet Ophelia

I am a fan of JW Waterhouse, and I love his take on Ophelia. She was one of my favorite of Shakespeare's characters, and she was done so wrong, so the image of her sitting on the willow tree, lilies in her hair, and still alive is a lovely one for me.

I like the Zella Day song. Regardless of the meaning of the song, the feel is quite evocative for Hamlet's Ophelia. It's a new one for me, and I like it a lot.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this in "La Vita E Bella" - the impact this movie had on me was profound as a young person. The heartbreak of the story, and yet the beautiful feeling of hope made such an impression on my younger self.

If you haven't ever watched the movie, you should.

Swedish vemod, tender sadness, pensive melancholy + Vemdalen, the name of a Swedish town. The term vemödalen focuses on the lack of creativity within photography due to the existence of similar photographs having been taken in the past.

I've no idea where he got the Ö from. If he'd written is at vemodalen it'd be a neat pun, like, melancholy valley. Now it's just nonsense. It's a beautiful town though and a great ski-resort
