Itโ€™s highly confusing. I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s one continent that doesnโ€™t have a little bit of weird, gray area.

Except for maybe Antarctica!

Another great area is the Middle East. Itโ€™s not a continent, but I donโ€™t think anyone picked an artist during Asia or Africa. (could be wrong, I just donโ€™t remember.)
Here you go, it was a lovely song in multiple languages

Day 16: A song from an Oceania artist
I love sad music. Lil Bo Weep is one of my consistent favorites. She wrote a lot about loss and sorrow and longing. I imagine it was from her own bad experiences in life.

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?

I've no idea what I'd do in Antarctica.. Don't think I'd survive there ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Best take some precautions. This might come in handy, might not, better safe than sorry.

The Morse Code song

Perfect!

Penguin Cafe - The Life Of An Emperor
From their album "Handfuls Of Night" about penguins and Antarctica, so I would have to take some of their work.
The far south is top of my "want to go" list. I'll be heading to the far north (hopefully) later in the year for more midnight sun

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?
This probably isn't one of my top 10 favorite songs that I can't live without. Maybe not even top 100. But it feels very appropriate for Antarctica.
Also - what 1st Gen iPod are we taking with us that only holds 10 songs?
"Gimme Shelter" - The Rolling Stones

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?
This was my top played song last year so it seems Iโ€™m going to need it on my rotation. Bryan Ferry being weird will distract me from the harsh environment too

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?

This is not only a song about turning up the heat a little bit, but you canโ€™t help but dance and warm up to this skinhead reggae tune.

This song personifies the skinhead, reggae style perfectly: nice syncopated, guitar, bass, and drums, super danceable beat and choppy, bubbly keyboards.

Roger Rivas is such a great keyboard player.

I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s one of my top 10 songs, but sure to make my stay in Antarctica a little bit warmer.

The Aggrolites - The Heat

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?
If Iโ€™m stuck in the cold Iโ€™m gonna need a banger. And I may need something to turn me on too so this video will definitely suffice

Day 17: If you were going to Antarctica and could only bring 10 songs with you, what would one of them be?

I love this-- a desert continent disk rather than just an island. But something specific for Antarctica. Hmmm...I have a friend who lives there, part-time, working as a civilian contractor for the airport serving McMurdo Station. She has stories, mostly of heading out to where you can't see anyone else and just sitting. She isn't a superstitious person, or particularly fanciful, but she said she felt like the land just hated them. Not that it was desolate, or harsh, but undiluted hate. And she stopped going out.

So this strikes. I am a fan of John Carpenter's work, and he usually scores his own films, but for his masterpiece he enlisted Italian composer Ennio Morricone. And, as usually, Morricone exceed expectations. This is eerie, and perfect, and from Kelly's stories, carries the heartbeat of that desolate land. And the rage.

"Desolation (the theme from The Thing)," Ennio Morricone
