Steady there, big guy. I'd like to marinate a bit in this first one.
Raises hand to ask Mr. Bartender if he would make me an Espresso Martini, please. I've never liked olives, sorry.
Its a cold, damp day here. Its snowing and we may get freezing drizzle. The Northern Hemisphere is stuck in winter mode. Its been an awful winter here. So a choice for tonight folks. Something to warm you: My recipe fro Irish Coffee or my recipe for Winter Sangria? What'll it be? Is there a fireplace in this Speakeasy? We should gather there after 8pm Eastern for whatever your pleasure is Then you can talk about whatever is your pleasure...
I'd be happy with sangria in front of the fireplace.
I can’t do that. It’s too much. I would shiver. Not in a good way.
Yes. I cannot do it. And I’ve tried all kinds.
On Irish Coffee:
Spider Robinson wrote a series of books set in Callahan's Crosstime Saloon. (Motto: Time Travelers Strictly Cash)One of them was a three hundred plus page shaggy dog story.
Anyway, one if the features of the bar was a machine which produced "God's Blessings": an Irish Coffee to suit for each customer. Everyone has a preference. We should mount an expedition to find The Machine. Or, share your preference.
Mine? I thought you'd never ask.
In a glass mug, rimmed with raw sugar place:
I tbs of raw sugar
Bushmills Black Bush. I'm usually generous with my whiskey.
Black coffee to fill the mug 3/4 full. Even here there are variations I like it strong, dark and earthy
Whipped cream to just under the rim
A drizzle of Irish Mist liqueur over the top.
So what's yours? Bailey's in the whipped cream? Jamaican with dark rum? Kailua in place of the Irish Mist?
Here's a bonus. My favourite whisky cocktail.
Open your trusty bottle of Laphroaig. Pour a healthy portion into the glass. Sip, savoring every drop. Repeat as necessary.
