2009 Survivor Off-Topic Chat

So Survivorphiles... since you are the ones submitting stories every day... ;) what's our current turnaround time from date of submission to posting on the site at the moment? Five days? Seven?

Hi, Selena. My most recent submission is a 10,000 word chapter of a novel and it will be posting tonight at 9PM PDT, less than 72 hours after submission. The two before that took between three and four days.

ETA: Of course, what they call "Mixed media" stories take quite a bit longer, although I submit very few of them.

Nice short time, sounds like, at the moment, for regular submissions!

Must be between contests... ;)

i love listening to your sexy voice selena

who's doing the scoreboard this year? i gots a scorecard update to get in.

... not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. fallen waaaaaaaaay behind this time.

Crimson Maiden updates them, but I believe that RL has been interferring a bit. I am sure she will get to another one soon. Someone said it was not a big deal until the autumn. Evidently people do most of the writing in the final three months?

Crim updates the scoresheet when she has time. Individual competitors are responsible for keeping their own scorecards up to date, and you can see anybody's posted score by clicking on that person's name.

However, there is no way to know, without further investigation, whether or not any specific person is updating their scorecard. If you want to check on somebody's true score, you can click on the name on the scoresheet and, if it has not been edited for a long while, or you think it is not up to date, you can go to that person's index and look for new stories posted since the last editing date.

The scorecard doesn't mean all that much until the end of the year. Some people sandbag, by which I mean they delay including posted items until late in December. I don't do this, but some competitors do, so other authors won't know how many more stories or poems they need to write and post to stay in or near the lead.

RL has been interfering a lot. I am so stressed right now, I don't know whether I am coming or going. The stress is causing constant headaches, which is not very conducive to being online...

And now I am under pressure to pass a licensing course, so I am spending most of my time studying.

If y'all can bear with me for another month or so, hopefully I will have passed my course and licensing test and will be working, and my stress load will be greatly reduced. Then I will be able to get back to updating the board at least every couple of weeks.

As Box mentioned, if you are that curious about scores, you can always check individual scorecards. Just keep in mind that no one has to have their cards filled out until the end of the contest, so what you see there (or even on an updated ScoreBoard) can be misleading.

thanks wthb, box, and crim.

crim - good luck with all that's going on in r/l :rose::)

i'm not concerned with individual scores etc. i just wondered who was doing the updates this time. i had an inkling it was crim - from last year's contest - but didn't want to send out an unsolicited pm if this year was different.

anyway, babble babble yada yada ...

thanks again. :)

Sorry, I have been writing more stories set in the US and using American spellings more lately. It is funny switching back and forth between the two. You ought to hear me telling my three year old to put something in the...bin...trash...garbage...and on occasion basura. Never thought I could be bi-lingual. LOL!

Good luck, Crim. Knock 'em dead. Do you need a crib sheet?

Since she is taking the test in the US, colors would be correct. If she were going to London to take it, then you would say colours.
